Guest Post Series: Faces of Spring, Lily from "Chloe.Ash"

Hi everyone,

I'm Lily from Chloe.Ash Beauty Blog and I'm glad to be here to stand in for Sara just for today. I am a fellow beauty junkie from makeup to skincare. I have normal skin and I love my smokey eyes. I have hooded lids and it's a blessing in disguise because it takes A LOT for makeup to look especially dramatic on me. Today, let me show you what's trendy here in Asia, particularly Malaysia. We're mostly about clean beauty, that places a lot of emphasis on clear luminous skin. That's why brightening skincare is one of the top selling skin care here! The Hallyu wave is still going strong, and many people love straighter thick brows. To complete the minimal look, eyes are defined using liner and mascara and just a touch of eye shadow, and lipstick.

What I have done here is to show you 2 looks. One is something that is more acceptable, that is to have the eye liner drawn straight with natural looking lips, and another is a winged out liner with brighter lips. Here are the products used.

We want a flawless luminous base, but because the weather is hot and humid, powder is a necessity. I like my Dior Star foundation, and to cover any imperfection with the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. Powders usually mattify the whole look, but setting it with Guerlain Meteorites will magically give the complexion a subtle glow.

For the eyes, I chose a glittery eye shadow just for fun, and a long wearing liquid liner. The Dior corrector you see is a limited edition (sorry!) but it's great to correct any mistakes in liner application.

Lastly, here are the lip products I chose. I love my Dior lippies, and here are Rouge Dior Baume Garden Party for a natural looking pout, and Rouge Dior Brillant 888 Soho for a brighter pop of colour.

Here are the 2 looks I created. On the left, we have a very acceptable natural clean makeup and on the right, I added winged liner and a brighter pink on my lips. Still very wearable, but more playful as well. I used the eye shadows sparingly on my lids, and smudged some on my lower lash line for a brighter effect. Brows are kept as straight as naturally possible and the face, clean. I did add some blush but it's so subtle you can't really tell in the photos.

I hope you like the looks I created for you. If you have any queries, please feel free to ask in comments below!

Cheers,
- Lily

  1. Hey, Lily
Loved reading your post, and how much you're able to do with just a few core products. The Météorites are one of my personal faves, and the scent just makes me happy. The looks you've come up with are really lovely. And I love me a berry pout with some winged liner!

  2. Wow, your face is glowing ! I like the looks. I would love to try the Guerlain meteorites but my face can't tolerate fragrance, wish they would come out with a scent-free one

  5. Thank you Siri. I love the scent of the Météorites as well. I've been all over berry for a few months now. I wonder when that obsession will ease off!

  6. Thank you Katherine. If you click on the photos for the high resolution version, you'll definitely see less glow. LOL! I'm sorry to hear you don't like the fragrance - it's actually one of my favourite scents.

  7. Hey Sunny, these colors are so easy to wear and they brighten the complexion immediately. I need a brighter face terribly, from lack of sleep and just being tired in general. Ashton saps up my energy like no other. LOL!

  8. OK, I just realised I wrote "I love my smokey eyes" twice - it's actually typo, but felt like déjà vu. Either that or I just really love my smokey eyes. LOL!

  11. Thanks Linda. Simple agrees with me and with the time I have :-) I'm sure you know how crazy it can get with a little baby AND trying to look presentable. Hahaha!

  13. You have such a gorgeous smile :-) And the Guerlain Powder Pearls... I am seeing them everywhere... I've always kept my distance so far - but maybe I should change that. The Dior Star is a very beautiful foundation. But sometimes I do find I prefer the "old" Nude by Dior. But I love to switch... As many of us I've found a little selection of foundations... I guess you have one, too :-)

Thank you for the article! Such an corrector is a very good idea... I think I saw a similar one here in drugstores, too... Have to find out...

  15. Both looks are gorgeous and your skin is looking fresh and flawless!

  16. Thank you Shelynx :-) It took me a few years to splurge on a tub of pearls and that's all I have. It takes forever to use it up anyway. Unless you're a collector, you really don't need all of them do you? LOL! The old Dior Nude foundation is amazing stuff and yes, it's always handy to have a few foundations on rotation. Says a beauty blogger. Hahaha but I'm sure you understand. Thank you for reading! A corrector is very handy indeed :-)
