Guest Post Series: Faces of Spring, Alexandra from "Anonymiss"

Hi dear Color Me Loud readers!

I'm Alex, author of anonymiss.net and my beauty heart beats for blushes, lipsticks and brushes (aaaaand Tom Ford). When Sara asked me to be a part of her Guest Post Blog Series and to show my favourite spring products I immediately said yes! Spring is my favourite season (not only because it's my birthday in spring ;D), but because the nature wakes up from its winter sleep. It gets warmer so you can finally wear all of the beautiful outfits, that were hidden in the closets!

It is all about the glow

The most spring looks our favorite brands present us are full of pastels. But this is not my first choice, for me it's all about the glow ('bout the glow, not pastels... - yepp, thank me later for the song now playing in your head!). Because my skin is a bit dull at the moment, I have to help it with some magic stuff. So let's take a look what I often use for a glowy complexion:

The first step after moisturizing my face is applying Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone to the whole face (don't use too much of it, it can easily turn greasy!). Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation applied with Rae Morris Radiance Brush gives me a natural looking and flawless finish - so this duo is a irreplaceable for a glowy face! Unfortunately my skin is far away from perfect, so I need some concealing  - there is nothing better than MAC Pro Longwear mixed with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer applied with a fluffy brush onto the under eye circles and blemishes. To hold everything in place but not to mattify the glow - Chanel Healthy Glow Sheer Powder is my best friend!

Because I wanted the glow everywhere I chose the glowiest palette I own - Tom Ford Nude Dip (Fall 2014 LE). The colors themselves are nothing special, but! the effect is gorgeous! It is shimmery, for sure you have to like it, but the shimmer is very classy and not cheap in any way!  It has so much expression and depth, so I often wear the palette by itself - without liner, like this time! At the moment I am using Clinique High Impact mascara, but I am not very happy with it. Any mascara recommendations for lenght & definition, please?

A little bronzer never hurt anyone, so I applied NARS Laguna light handed and highlighted my face with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone (the pressed version is amazing as well!). For my cheeks there is only one blush in spring time: Tom Ford Frantic Pink - a mix of peachy-pinky-perfection! If I had to use only one blush for the rest of my life, I would choose this one!

And here is the final result. On my lips you see Estee Lauder Charming from the new Pure Color Envy Shine range; I am really impressed and already bought a new shade (more will surely follow!).

Thank you for reading! I enjoyed showing you my spring favorites but I have to admit - I was a bit nervous - usually I do not post in English and this is my first guest post as well, so please don't be too harsh with me! Now I hope Sara enjoys her stay in the brush land and will soon be back with many amazing brushes!

  1. That is a pretty glow! As someone with combination skin, I tread carefully around this concept. I really love seeing it on others tho! I've been really digging the Pure Color Envy Shines. Charming looks SO good on you!

  3. Hey, Alex
That is such a lovely look on you. I think I might need that blush, it's absolutely gorgeous. By the way, popped by your blog, and I couldn't help but notice the lamp you had. So now I'll be searching high and low for Beauty Light as it seems a much more reasonably preiced than those mirrors with a LED halo around them. Also, the Météorites, well... The regular ones are setting powders that can be used as a highlight, but the LE ones tend to have a bit more to them. The Crazy Paris had more fuchsia toned pearls for an angelic glow, the one from last year more gold for a warmer glow. I'd say use the one you've got for a subtle highlight - somehow the larger shimmer particles seem to disappear before anyone ha a chance to notice - or if you're in need of a pick-me-up.
And as a Guerlain fan I think you are underestimating the value of carrying a Rouge G around in your purse. It's a triple threat! You've got the moisturizing lipstick. The touch-up mirror. And if someone attacks you or is extremely rude, the weight of it will make your purse an excellent weapon of defence!

  4. Great post and a lovely look, you have used so may of my favourite products! Thanks for reminding me of my Becca Moonstone :). I am also such a Frantic Pink fan. It's the last Tom Ford blush I bought because everyone said it only works on fair skin, but it is perfect on my NC40-42!!!!

  6. Thaaank you so much! If you like TF Color Shines and Chanel Rouge Coco Shine you will love the new EL range, too!

My skin is also slightly oily, but you know what? I don't care about it very much and still rock the glow, when I feel my skin becomes very oily I just blot with a half of tissue (because usually I don't even have blotting papers!) So don't be afraid, just give it a try! :)

  8. Hi Siri, thank you so so much! If you love NARS Deep Throat but want an even more sophisticated version: you'll need Frantic Pink in your beauty life!

The lamp is really great - it comes in two versions 6500K (is more like a usual day light lamp) and 4200K (like mine, it's a soft white version). I love it, because it's really natural and doesn't burn your eyes out because it's too harsh and white! The mirrow is the IKEA Tysnes one, just for the size reference. The deliver to many countries as well, I'll help you if you'll need some assistance or won't find something similar in your city / country!

I know that the newer ones even have some color pigments and some are just more for adjusting the skin color, the pressed ones are for this purpose, I think! Mhh maybe I should give the Meteorites a try, but I'm not really convinced that I will ever love 'em! Haha what a beautiful weapon the Rouge G's are - literally drop dead gorgeous ;)

  9. They are so transparent, they mostly work to brighten the complexion, though 02 seems to alleviate some of my redness. The pressed ones are simply an easier way of transporting the powder, but it's more or less the same thing. I did a coleague's makeup once, and while I did it she told me that she never had any effect from the powder so she preferred something else. Determined to prove her wrong I swirled my brush in a tub of pearls, and applied it. Afterwards she wondered what it was that gave her skin such a lovely glow. She refused to believe the Météorites were it, but that's what I used.

  10. Thank you so much! Do you use Moonstone also as a full-face base? Or just as highlighter on cheekbones?

I own every TF Blush, because they are awesome, but Frantic Pink is THE ONE <3 Great that this one works on you as well!

  14. Such a lovely post, and I loved the idea of using Becca moonstone all over the face followed by a thicker coverage foundation! I need to dig that one out of my drawers!

  15. Hi Alexandra, it's a very glowy look indeed. I love your complexion!! And your product picks are on point. Lovely :-)

  16. I use Moonstone only on the high points...cheekbones,bridge of nose a little, sometimes a touch above the brow bone. I think it would be too glowy for me all over.

  17. Are those Chikuhodo brushes? Where did you buy it, is there a store that ships to EU (preferably without import charges).

  18. You look beautiful and your skin is not a bit dull at all! I want the Estee Lauder Lipstick! Looks beautiful! I do understand why you'd take the Tom Ford Blush... it's so pure and beautiful on your skin! Great Look!

  19. Pure ist exact the word that describes Frantic Pink perfectly!

Thank you my lovely fairy! :*

  20. Hey hey!
The brushes in this post are Wayne Goss, Hakuhodo and Tom Ford. AFAIK there is no shop in EU for buying Chikuhodo brushes BUT! there is Beautylish and when I order stuff to Germany I already pay the charges at the checkout! So maybe you'll give Beautylish a try!

  21. Thank you so much! I wasn't much into glowy complexion for a very long time, but then a lovely friend of mine introduced the Ellis Faas foundation... That's how everything began ;)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh yes - don't forget about this one! It's such a great overall base (I also love to use it with the Rouge Bunny Rouge Foundation which is also thicker!)

  23. Thank you! If you like NARS Deep Throat and the Armani Sheer Blush 10 (the old version!) you should take a look at the TF one! :)

  24. Thank you so much! Is such a glowy complexion also a thing for you?

  25. I love highlights above the brow bone - this looks so much better on me than the classic under the brow bone highlight (because of my hooded eyes)
Just give Moonstone a chance for an allover base - try it when you are at home - that way you can always wash it away if you don't like the results!
