Dior Fall 2015 Cosmopolite Collection, Swatches & First Impression

I hope you are having a wonderful week. Today I received all clear for the early termination period so I can start the other job on time, first of September that it. After working over 10 years in this company, it is hard to believe that I will be leaving in just a few weeks time. Scary but I am super excited.

I caught an early bird purchasing opportunity and got my hands on some pieces from Dior Fall 2015 Collection. I haven't had the chance to select what I was buying so I can't call these "My Picks". You can tell because I would probably never go for the silver eye shadow. I will be reviewing them in detail after using them a few times as I always do. Today I would like to post quick swatches for those who are as excited as I am.

Dior Fall 2015 Cosmopolite Collection

After swatching everything I have, my first favorite from the collection by just looking at the swatches is Diorskin Nude Cosmopolite Illuminating Face Powder. This one should be priced close to the blushes and the texture is to die for. It is so smooth and pigmented, almost melts and applies so beautifully.

Diorskin Nude Cosmopolite Illuminating Face Powder

The shade of Diorskin Nude Cosmopolite Illuminating Face Powder is a rose gold/ peach and the finish is a little metallic but the shimmer is complex and it looks subtle and wearable. I hope it doesn't emphasize anyone's pores. I can feel that my dry skin will love this highlighter. Can't wait to try it out on my face.

Now on to that purple quad which got me drooling after the promo images were released. Even if it wouldn't be purple, I should have just purchased it because of the name "Electric". For those who don't know I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering. I must admit, over the years I collected lots of make-up items which have this name, including Chanel Le Vernis #62 Electric and Urban Decay Electric Palette.

Dior 5 Couleurs #866 Cosmopolite Edition Electric

Now a purple palette with the name Electric, yes please!
How do I feel after swatching this one?

Exactly like the way I felt when I was struck by 240 Volt in one of the laboratory sessions during my studies. Let me tell you it was not pleasant. Oh and swatching this palette was also not all that pleasant. It feels super dry to touch other than the light nude shade (top right). All I am hoping is that it doesn't have the terrible fall out of Pied-de-Poule which I didn't have the guts to review just yet. You can tell I don't like writing negative miserable reviews.

I don't know what happened to Dior eye shadow formula but it doesn't get better yet.

Two stunners of the collection is Diorblush Cheek Stick. I have this in #765 Cosmopolite Rosewood and it is so lovely. It swatches beautifully, what you see below is one single swipe. I can't wait to try it out. Rouge Dior #753 Continental is a warm red which has a hint of plum in there, which my camera decided to leave out. It is a very original shade, I am excited about it too. I love Rouge Dior formula, it is very hydrating and comfortable and this shade is so fall appropriate. I hope I can pull it off.

Now for me the most exciting part of the release, Dior Addict Fluid Shadows. They come in the same packaging as Dior Glosses and with the same brush tip. #025 Magnetic is a silver which is not too cool, hope it will work on me. #275 Cosmic screams out my name it is a reddish plum with metallic finish and beautiful complex shimmer in there.

Now my first impressions about the formula, it is very runny so hard to apply. You might get bald patches while doing so but with a second or third layer, you can cover there. So it is not a swipe and go product but it wears like iron once you manage to apply them. I wore Cosmic today and loved the result. Check out yourself...

Here is a sneak peak of me wearing Dior Addict Fluid Shadow Cosmic today. I will try it out more and sum up my feelings about the formula. First impressions is that it needs a learning curve.

Final thoughts: Apart from the quint, I love the offerings. My favorite from the swatches is the highlighter. It is stunning. Stick blushes and the lipstick is beautiful too. Dior Addict Fluid Shadows have a very runny consistency, I am still trying to learn how to apply it efficiently without needing to put on three layers. I will report about that very soon.

Are you eyeing anything from Dior Cosmopolite Collection?

  1. You were struck by 240 volt??! That's scary! Weren't you seriously injured?!

Thanks for the swatches! I'm digging the lipstick and the blush stick, but if you say the palette is so bad I probably will tread around it carefully. I love how the eyeshadow looks on you, but really don't think it should require 2-3 layers!

  2. The eye palette looks great though. Maybe it'll work better on the lids? Sometimes they swatch bad but apply just fine. I'm excited about the liquid eye shadows from the promo pictures. The swatches are beautiful too! But to apply a few layers seem cumbersome. I don't know when we'll be getting these. Dior PR here seem to be getting worse each time there's a turnover. But I'll be sure to keep an eye out for this collection. I'm guessing it will be August!

  3. This is the first Dior collection, from which I want nothing at all. Intense colors combined with intense metallic finish is too much for me.

  4. I am liking the Blush stick and the liquid eye shadow is a very unique and beautiful shade. I would like a better look at it on you and also hoping it works somehow. For me, the GA tints had so many warm shades and the cooler shades in the Dior are long awaited but only if the formula is there. I am very cautious now about Dior quints. (I have both PdP and Bar.)

  5. Thanks for the comprehensive and honest review! Putting the highlighter on my wishlist! Very sad about the palette! The colours look amaze, but yes, the Dior eyeshadows seem to be slipping in quality, and I hope the rectify this issue soon. Cosmic looks beautiful on you! Would you say this is harder to use than the Armanis? They seem to be better than the YSLs at least.

  6. That quint!!!…. soooo pretty. I adore those shades, what a shame about the formula. I will be waiting with excitment for this to arrive in Sydney. Christy x

  9. I'm so glad for you that you can start your other job on time, one less thing for you to worry about!
Thanks for sharing your early thoughts about the Fall collection. What a miss with the quint, I really feel that Dior have made the wrong move with the reformulation, more often than not the newer ones are getting bad reviews. I'm liking the look of the blush stick, looks a lot more pigmented than the Chanel ones.

  10. Thank you for your review and beautiful swatches. It's a pity about the quint. I am also very tempted by the highlighter. The burgundy eyeshadow looks so beautiful on your eyes. I can't wait to hear more about it. At the moment I'm not sure as it sounds a bit 'labour intensive ' to apply. If it's not too much trouble when you do the review would you be able to post a list of ingredients of the fluid shadow? Vielen Dank.
It's great it's worked out with the early termination. Looking forward to hearing more about your new venture.

  11. The colors all really appeal to me, especially the lipstick. Bring on Fall!

Their eyeshadow palettes always look so pretty on the container! And your swatches even look wonderful. That greenish shade with the plum burgundies... I might just TRY to find a way to make it work!

Glad to hear your work situation is resolving itself! I've got my own fingers crossed for myself right now. The tension, eeeek.

  12. Rosewood, oh my gosh! What a pretty pretty shade :-O The quad also looks really nice, love the colors. It's a shame first impressions aren't all that good.

  13. So sad to hear that the eyeshadow palette's quality is not good. I don't understand what Dior is doing with their eyeshadows, I really don't... You'd think that when they update the formula, they'd make it better.
Anyways, I'm not surprised about the issues with the liquid shadows, but still disappointed. Liquid shadow is hard to do well, but some managed, so I wish Dior would have too!
The Illuminating Powder on the other hand is very pretty, and I think it looks very similar to the Nars "blush" coming out this fall.

  14. Dior Cosmic is such a pretty purple, but if I had to apply 3 layers every time, that tube would be gone way too soon! And so sad about Dior's shadow palettes :( as their color combos are interesting. They should stop issuing one bad palette after another, and just focus on re-formulating. Or just bring back the old formulas. Awww, so cute you collect makeup with electric themes or names. Have you seen MAC Pink Shock cream base? It's a very scary-looking shocking pink, but it can be dotted onto the cheeks and blended into a beautiful pink. One pan will probably last me 20 years.

  15. OMG <3 der Highlighter ist sooooo toll! Gefällt mir richtig, richtig gut <3
Und die Glosse sehen cool aus! Sehr interessant!

  16. Cosmic looks beautiful on you...I've been very curious about the liquid shadows ever since I saw pictures. Too bad about the quint; it looks so pretty in the pan! I look forward to your detailed reviews.:)

  17. Oh, I love the nueances of this collection! So bad the quint is not good, because the shades are gorgeous. I'm taking down note about the highlighter because I'm building my budget for Fall! This will have to come home with me! I don't own many highlighters and certainly nothing like this one!
Thank you Sara for the early swatches!!

  19. Hi Sunny,
funny thing about electricity is that if the current is not high, it is very likely that you are not injured. You can go even higher than 240 V, potential difference is not so important. So this one tickled a little because electrons move on your body, doesn't feel nice, but nothing happened.

That lipstick, dig it ! I was wearing it today, it is so pretty. I am still experimenting with the liquid shadows. I will let you know soon.

  20. How do you like PdP? Am I the only one who hates it? To me it is worse than much cheaper brands, dry, fall down, anything you wouldn't like is there. This one is not so bad though. I have it on my eyes today, at least there is no fall out during application. It is very meh though, nothing special, I will write about it in more detail this weekend.
Add the lipstick to your wish list, it is something no one should miss!

  21. No one with dry skin is going to be in love with PdP. Fortunately, I got it on eBay at a slightly discounted price. It was the dark blue that got me. You just feel like dunking the whole thing in Mac Prep Prime like a donut into coffee so that you have some moisture to make it stick. As to the lipstick, I have and love 999 but the scent is a bit overpowering and I am iffy enough on reds to pass on this one. Did you see the Dior addict's on special access at Nordstrom's?
