Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-25 Haruhinata, Review, Swatch & FOTD

There will be so much gorgeousness going on this weekend, I can hardly contain myself. There will be a new collaboration which we will announce tomorrow. And many requested reviews coming up.

I have lovely Spring Collection items to play with and present to you. This year it felt like forever until I embraced my first Suqqu Quads. If you follow me, you might know, I am crazy about them. The textures, the staying power, how it smooths out my lids. Suqqu Spring 2015 Collection is inspired by chiffon and delicate fabrics. There are three new Blend Color Eye Shadows. One of them is limited edition while the other two will join the permanent line-up. In the next days I will review all three for you. Let me start with the limited edition one, Ex-25 Haruhinata, a striking combination of delicate gold, peach and cool pink.

Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-25 Haruhinata

I always start a Suqqu review by trying (hard!) to understand the name and the meaning. Here is another effort. Haruhinata consists of two words, Haru and Hinata, which are as well used as names. Haru means spring time or sunlight, depending on the Kanji used to write it. As my kanji decoder recognizes, Haru () here means "spring time". Hinata (陽向) is another name, meaning facing the sun/sunlight. If you check the shades in the palette, you can see the colors of sunlight, pale peach, soft golden yellow and a soft pink. If I have made a mistake above (which I usually do) please let me know in the comments below. I am always glad to be corrected to improve.

The shades in Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-25 Haruhinata are as follows:

Top left: A lovely iridescent pale gold with delicate shimmer. This shade is semi-transparent and very soft. It can be applied over a base for a full effect or by itself for a soft touch of gold.

Top right: A light pastel peach with satin finish. It brings some light on to the lids and it is very subtle on my skin tone. I use this mostly to blend over the crease.

Bottom right: A light cool pink with semi-transparent shimmery finish. This color is close to Ex-20 Natsubotan from last year's Summer Collection but a little softer. If you missed on Natsubotan, you may like to get Haruhinata for a similar effect.

Bottom left: A very deep cool brown with a hint of plum and satin finish. It is a nice definition shade. It can be used as a liner, as a smokey eye around the lash lines or on the crease to give the eyes some shape. I like this shade on its own for a quick smokey eye too.

Layering tips: Top left gold and bottom right pink are best to layer on the deepest shade to give a lovely shimmer and iridescence. How come I haven't taken any photos of this lovely effect?

Below I am using the golden on the inner corner, the deep shade along the lower lash line and on the crease and outer corner. On the lid I have pink. I have applied everything without a base to show you how they bring a soft spring look together. Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-25 Haruhinata is definitely one of the softer pigmented quads in the range, with its focus being more on the the lovely soft shimmer.

FOTD: Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-25 Haruhinata

And of course everything had to be coupled with a matching scarf. I have a soft spot for make-up scarf combination and ended up having a small collection of scarfs. Isn't peach and gold a lovely combination? Especially once they are pastels or soft shades, coolness of pink doesn't ruin the harmony.

Final thoughts: Although soft shimmery pastels is not a look I would usually go for, with the textures of Suqqu it works so beautifully. If you are in the market for an understated spring quad which is not too pastel with the right amount of shimmer, make sure to check out Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-25 Haruhinata.

Availability: Now available in stores at Selfridges, UK. It will also be released Fenwick of Bond Street and Harrods on the 12th of February. It looks to be sold out at Selfridges Online, but you can aways call the stores, they deliver internationally.

Peach gold and pink, do you like the combination?

  6. Simply beautiful!! I agree that this is a gorgeously soft palette, and it really shows how well the Suqqu formula works! I've been turing to this palette when I want something fresh and spring-feeling :D

  8. I also noticed about the scarves :) They are lovely! Sara, I am trying to get similar intensity with suqqu and I struggle with some of their quads/trios. Do you use some super base or do you know a trick how to apply them? For example, my problem with the rosy quad from christmas is that it is very dry and trios that they are very very sheer. So I can't make my mind now about ordering the spring collection. Thanks a lot for your advise!

  9. Hi Jane,
I only use Nars Proprime but seriously none of Suqqu quads ever need a base.
Which trio do you have? 3 is very very pigmented, I haven't tried the other ones yet.
I use a very dense layering brush for more color pay off, Hakuhodo G5507. Do you have that one?

  10. It is one of the sheer ones but still beautiful. I am glad you have it too :-*

  11. Trio in 01. I think I'll buy Nars primer and also that brush can be a problem is an excellent point! Somehow I did not think about it. I have different mac, bobbi brown, chantecaille, and other brushes and none of them work well, not dense enough or too fluffy. I was trying to avoid Hakuhodo so hard :) thank you for the tipp! I need to check it out.
