RMK UV Liquid Foundation, Color Correcting Base & Long Lasting UV, Review, Swatch & FOTD

Wishing you all a beautiful Sunday. Since I started teaching on Mondays, for me Sunday ended to be a working day. My weekend starts earlier though since I don't have classes on Fridays. I don't know which is better because it is hard to work on a Friday if you know what I mean so I end up delaying all the work to Sunday.

I have been testing RMK's latest liquid foundation, UV Liquid Foundation which comes with a whooping SPF 50+, PA +++. The base collection also includes a Long Lasting UV with SPF 45, PA ++++ (bring it on!) and four shades of Basic Color Control bases. The latest color correcting madness was almost going past me so I am happy to catch the trend by this post. Without further ado, my thoughts are after the jump.

RMK UV Liquid Foundation, Color Correcting Base & Long Lasting UV

RMK Long Lasting UV SPF45 PA++++

This is a foundation base which moisturizes and prepares the skin while delivering a good amount of sun protection. It has to be given a good shake before the application. The consistency is very runny and it glides on so that it can be very easily distributed. Although the liquid is white, it doesn't have a white cast on my skin.

RMK Long Lasting UV is almost weightless on the skin and moisturizes my dry areas nicely. I am sold on the RMK skin care ingredient of this one, including rosemary extract for moisturizing, bilberry extract for hydration and salvia extract for smoothing out and conditioning. I wished I could tell you if there are nano particles in there but I can't since the ingredients are in Japanese. If you are interested though, please leave a comment and I will do my best to find out. I will also try this base under hot, humid and lots of sunshine in summer and edit this post. I found the texture to be great as a base under any foundation for a dry or normal skin and I am loving the fact that it had extra sun protection. Long Lasting UV has 30 ml product and costs around £28.

RMK UV Liquid Foundation SPF50 PA+++

The foundation comes in a plastic squeeze tube, resembling Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. It is very light and simply functional. It has to be shaken before the application. The consistency is very liquid, a little more runny than Vitalumiere Aqua, in case you are familiar with that one. By the first layer it goes on very thin, almost non-existent, therefore I was very surprised to see how it managed to even out my skin tone nicely. The coverage is light to medium. It can be build up without getting patchy but most you can get it medium coverage. UV Liquid Foundation doesn't dry my dry to medium complexion. I prefer to set it with a transparent powder though since it doesn't set very much by itself but doesn't move either. The finish is very much skin like, I would classify it as demi-velvet if it makes sense. It is not very dewy but not powdery either.

Now after the facts, what I feel about this. I am blown away. It must be one of the best foundations I have tried recently. The coverage is enough to even out my skin tone but it is also very light-weight and it can be easily applied on a rush. I recommend you set it with a powder for longevity although it can as well be used on its own. It stays about 8 hours on me.

UV Liquid foundation is infused with rosemary extract and shea butter for moisturizing, bilberry extract for hydration and salvia extract for smoothing out and conditioning similar to Long Lasting UV Base. One tube as 30 ml of product and is retailed for £34.

Before/After: RMK UV Liquid Foundation #102

RMK UV Liquid Foundation comes in seven shades. I included some shade comparisons for your reference for shades #101 and #102. The shades which start with 1xx have warm undertones. There are also two shades, 201 and 202 which have cooler undertones. I can wear #102 on its own and it looks good on my NC20ish skin. I would say #101 is around NC15. You can see that my best match, YSL Fusion Ink B20 (reviewed here) is a tad deeper and more natural as opposed to warm. Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation in #03 Fawn (reviewed here) is close to RMK UV Liquid Foundation #102.

Swatch Comparisons of RMK UV Liquid Foundation #101 and #102

RMK Color Correcting Base #01 Silver, #04 Coral

Matching to the new theme of the make-up community, RMK released four different shades of color correcting bases. These come in tiny 10g tubes with pump dispensers. I love the fact that these are so small and affordable at £20 each. I think the idea of it is that you apply different shades to different parts of your face. As an example I like applying #01 Silver on the high points of the face as a highlighting base and #04 Coral on the cheeks for a very natural flush. There is also a green shade to even out redness, which I don't think I need and purple for dulness, which I certainly need and will check it out. Once I applied it overall, I found these to be a little drying if my skin is not very well conditioned so I recommend to apply in moderation and partially in case your skin leans dry. Below you can see very heavy swatches to give you and idea of the shades. These are very transparent and nicely blend into the skin.

RMK UV Liquid Foundation, Color Correcting Base & Long Lasting UV

Final thoughts: All in all I am very excited about Long Lasting UV which moisturizes my dry skin nicely and protects my face from evil sun rays. It doesn't give me a white cast while doing that. RMK UV Liquid Foundation is one of the best sheer foundations I have tried recently. It is very lightweight but evens out my complexion just enough. If you have lots of spots going on, you need a bit of a concealer on that. For color correction before hand, you can use Color Correcting Base partially on the parts of the face which is needed.

Have you tried any base products from RMK?

  1. Thank you for your review and swatches. Can I ask how this foundation compares to the new Parure Gold from Guerlain? Which one do you prefer?

I'm also intrigued by the Colour Correctors. I'd be particularly interested in Silver and Green. If you have ingredients list for the Silver one in English or German , would you please be able to post them if you get a chance (I know you're very busy with work right now)? Thank you. :)

  2. Oh I love the sound of this!! I've not had much experience with RMK bases, although I know they are very good. This one sounds very similar to one from Lunasol which I had loved last year, but I found it to be a little bit drying after awhile. I'm now hooked on cushions, cushions and more cushions! LOL!

  3. Oh I am so excited to try these! I will have to scour the web to see which sellers ship to the U.S. It is so sad that I match only the shades for foundations released in Asia. My last trip to Taiwan, I bought 4 bottles of foundation just because of the colors, never mind that they might not work for my skin type. Oh the troubles of being Eurasian with ultra fair but yellow/olive undertones.

Your swatches help tremendously, so thank you so much!

  4. I love my RMK liquid foundation, and I still think it's THE foundation to beat. Everything you featured here sounds awesome! I need to get my hands on some, especially the liquid foundation.

  5. Hi Anne,
this foundation is more liquid, the consistency is thinner, coverage is more sheer but it is not to sheer, enough for me. I would classify Parure Gold Liquid as medium to full coverage whereas this sheer to medium. I like them both for different reasons. When I need more coverage and longer lasting foundation, I go for Parure but if I need more sun protection, more casual day (less coverage) I go for RMK. I hope that helps. These are both my go-to foundations at the moment.

Unfortunately I only have an ingredients list in Japanese, which probably wouldn't help us. I will try to contact PR and try to find out.

  6. Hi Sara, thank you for getting back to me. I do like Parure Gold, I tried it after reading your review so time ago.

As you say RMK foundation does sound good for casual days. I hope to get a sample of it as well as the green colour corrector.

Once again thank you for your help. :)
