Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum, Review

I wish you all a lovely weekend as it just starts. Today I would like to go with the Fragrance Friday tradition and share my thoughts about a brand new release from La Maison Sisley, one of my all time favorite brands in skin care and make up. There is little not to fall in love in their range of products and I throughly appreciate the fact that they are not taken by the seasonal low quality releases but instead stick with a well crafted permanent collection.

Sisley fragrances are dream for chypre lover but this time around they went for another concept all together, something fresh and elegant, a rose overload right from the gardens onto your skin.

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." said Shakespeare so in case you wonder if Sisley does the rose better, here are my thoughts about Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum.

Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum

Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum comes in a very chic white box with lovely golden details. I usually don't start writing about the box simply because I usually get rid of it shortly after taking out the treasured flacon but I especially loved how beautifully worked it was. Flacon has an interesting irregular shape with some wavy details that can be appreciated if checked out in detail but I have to admit that once compared to the high quality of the juice inside, flacon fails a little short to impress. What I am loving though is the spraying quality that can dissipate the liquid in one of the best ways I have so far experienced.

Izia's pyramide is provided as follows. Rose note is sometimes given as D'Ornano Rose by paying a tribute to Sisley Paris' founder Hubert Isabelle D'Ornano who recently passed away. The fragrance is characterized by a fresh opening, a floral heart and a warm musky and woody base.

Top Notes
White bergamot, Pink pepper, Aldehydes
Heart Notes
Rose, Transparent floral accord, Angelica
Base notes
Cedarwood, Amber, Musk

Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum

Izia opens with a crisp fresh fruity note that is well balanced by the fresh spicy pink pepper note as well as the aldehydrates so it doesn't get too fruity nor sweet but stays very pleasant and smells sophisticated and expensive in-spite of its freshness. Around ten minutes mark the floral heart reveals itself with a beautiful clean but heady rose in a musky and green bed supported by the herbal qualities of angelica and other florals.

After about half an hour to an hour, it starts to warm up as the woody and amber base notes slowly become prominent. Rose turns into a warmer more velvety version and continue to exit on a creamier base. Although lately I have an impression that new fragrances are mostly characterized by a wonderful top and heart notes but dry down is mostly neglected, Izia goes against the stream and provides us with one of the most beautiful dry-downs I experienced lately. It is also quite long lasting. On me it radiates about 8-9 hours and stays close to skin for a few more.

Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum

Final thoughts: Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum is a beautifully crafted, well blended and balanced fragrance that is a modern take on a fresh rose. It definitely lives up to high expectations I have from La Maison Sisley, with its long lasting quality and can't-get-my-wrist-off-my-face type of delicious dry down. I definitely recommend you to stop by a counter and sniff it.

Sisley Paris Izia Eau de Parfum is now available in Germany in 30 ml/50 ml/100 ml flacons and costs about 82€/ 112€/ 180€ respectively. In the pictures 50 ml is depicted.

Do you own any Sisley Fragrances? Which one is your favorite?

  1. Hello Sara, I'm generally not a fan of rose fragrances so I don't think this one would appeal to me but I do like a lot of Sisley products. Will you be reviewing the new Phyto Touche trio powders?

  2. I think I own every Sisley fragrance (full size or mini) and I love them all. Ok, the Eau Tropicale is perhaps the worst of them all, simply because it smells a lot 'cheaper' than the rest of them. It is still a nice fragrance though. I need to check Izia, I live in Kuala Lumput now and the fragrance selection in department stores/ Sephora is a bit limited.
I really dislike the bottle. It looks like Avon.

  3. I know your love for Sisley fragrances so I was thinking about you while writing this review. Izia is a little bit of a deviation from the others so I am very intrigued to hear how you find it after you try. Kuala Lumpur! You always fascinate me! I am also not very keen on the bottle but the juice is worth having. Sisley always surprises me positively with their quality across the brand, be it make-up, skin care or fragrance and Izia is no exception.

I have the deeper of the trios and 3 of the cheek sticks I would like to review very soon. I know you are waiting for the foundation as well and that is also planned very soon.
