Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo Night Sky from Noir Collection for Holiday 2015, Review, Swatch, FOTD & Comparison

I hope you are having a wonderful week. Today (starting from tonight) was that time of the month for me again. Sorry for too much information but hey, do you have the same problem? I get so clumsy, like literally drop everything I have in my hand on the ground. Today I was preparing a Sisley blog post and the eye crayon dropped all the way to the ground. Needless to say it was a big mess. And for this blog post when I opened the package I was super happy to get the Cream & Powder Duo in perfect shape, not touching the cap, perfectly aligned. That was until I dropped it today haha! Anyway if that happens to you, just tap it on the table a few times and it realigns.

I am super excited to share the rest of the Tom Ford Holiday Collection Items with you today. You can see my swatches and comparison of Black Out Nail Lacquer here. I have previously reviewed First Time Lipstick, which comes in a special lined case for this collection here. This is why today I would like to concentrate on Cream & Powder Eye Shadow Duo in Night Sky. A spoiler, it is as smoky as it gets. Ready? *jumps*

Tom Ford Cream & Powder Duo Night Sky, First Kiss and Black Out from Noir Collection for Holiday 2015

On my sample the name of the product is not written but when I opened and swatched it I cheered "it is like night sky!". The name is so appropriate. "Night Sky" is a combination of a very deep navy blue metallic cream and a very deep navy blue powder with multi colored shimmer. The shimmer in both of them are out of this world stunning. This is what makes a high-end make up high end. Once you layer them, it becomes even more stunning since the cream base enhances the multi colored shimmer. They are certainly like stars on a night sky since the shimmer is fine but not too tiny.

Swatch: Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo Night Sky, cream, powder and layered.

The base can be sheered out and can be worn on its own for a less glam more daily look but be aware whatever you do, the glam won't leave you. Night Sky is not for the faint hearted, it is for the smoky lovers. It will especially enhance the brown eyes and make them pop but all other smoky lovers are definitely invited to the party in case you can't miss the stars twinkling on your eye lids.  It is hard to capture the effect. Below I applied the cream eye shadow all over the eye lid and layered it with the powder. I blended the edges with a clean brush and later on with MAC Omega. I highlighted the inner corner with MAC Blanc Type

In-action: Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo Night Sky

Some of you may remember Black Oyster from Tom Ford Summer Collection (previously reviewed here). Here is a comparison of the two, they are very different. Black Oyster is has more sparkle which are more uniform. It gives a grey smoky eye with lots of glitter. Night Sky on the other hand has more sparse shimmer, which are more colored and only show themselves with certain light, the base is blue. These two are not similar. If you own one, you can justify getting the other.

Comparison: Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo Night Sky and Black Oyster

Here is the look in context. I am wearing Tom Ford Cream & Powder Duo Night Sky on the eyes, Tom Ford Cheek Color Frantic Pink on the cheeks, Tom Ford Matte Lip Color First Time on the lips. My shirt is from S. Oliver Premium, my earrings are a birthday present from lovely Hara who comments here as HarPer, thanks so much to her once more for these, I am loving them and received many compliments with them yay!

FOTD with Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo Night Sky and Matte Lip Color First Time

All in all I could go to work like that, I hope I didn't shock my colleagues. If you are usually wearing natural eye shadows, Night Sky might be best to use at night or on a special occasion. With Noir Collection, Mr. Ford wants us all glammed up. Who can blame him, it is holiday season after all.

FOTD with Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo Night Sky and Matte Lip Color First Time

Final thoughts: This year's holiday collection from Tom Ford brings drama and glamour. Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo Night Sky gives a beautiful and complex deep navy smoky eye. Not for the faint of heart but for those of you who like the smokey eyes and a bit of glam shouldn't miss Tom's party. Love love love the stars twinkling on the night sky and they are all on your eyes.

Availability/Price: Tom Ford Holiday Collection will be available in November. Cream & Powder Eye Duo in Night Sky is limited, costs around 53€, Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in First Time is permanent but is released in limited edition packaging, costs around 53€.

Would you wear Night Sky for the day or keep it for special occasions?

  1. Wow, das funkelt ja wie ein Sternenhimmel! Ich trage zwar so gut wie nie blauen Lidschatten aber solche Töne sprechen mich dann doch sehr an ♥

  2. You're selling yourself short, Sara, when you say it will look beautiful on brown eyes because it is drop-dead gorgoeus on your warm green eyes. :-) Night Sky has been on my wishlist ever since I saw the official product pictures. We all know; however, that those pictures aren't always color true and so I was thrilled to see your swatches and EOTD. It's spectacular--sexy and stunning, perfect for holiday parties. Oh, Tom Ford, you did it again!

  3. Wow, what gorgeous colors! Too bad I never wear a smoky eye or blue shadows. They're just not my look. It is tempting but better not to buy makeup that will sit in the drawer unused.

  4. OMG, this is simply stunning!! They should call this Starry Night Sky. The intense sparkle reminds me of Chanel New Moon, which is the sparkliest shadow I own. I absolutely love blue shadows for my brown eyes, but I don't know if I will be able to wear this very often. It's too sparkly for work, and with a young kid, we aren't going out very often. So pretty though, and stunning on your eyes

  5. Hi Sara, I think this was now its first proper swatch posted on internet :) Looks gorgeous, am pretty sure will be painful to find again, given we don't have even a single counter of TF in Switzerland and nobody ships to this country. Anyway, with 3 palettes that also include a dark blue that I bought this fall, I think I will survive. As for that day, things are much worse for me. 2 days before that day I am always crying and feel so unhappy that my life doesn't make any sense to me. I will cry from extreme self-pitty every single time :) As I can't do anything about this nonsense, hormons win over my brain, I marked those days on my calendar for the few next months, in order to make sure I don't plan anything for these nights as I am not fun to be around. Luckily it is just one day :)

  20. Hi Jenni,
you are right, it is really magical!!

  21. It might be a bit intense for fair complexion. I can blend it out more but once the powder comes on top, it brings full drama.

  22. Hi Alison,
you are so right, this one is to knock it out!!! Like going to a chic party and you kill with this one right there and then ;-)

  24. Hi Agata,
I am so ready lol. Just with this eye look, it is like as if I don't need anything more. I can just to out and move with the music. Tom Ford somehow manages to offer super pretty, unique and dramatic make-up.

  25. LOL, you cracked me up. Can't wait to see it on you!

  26. Hi Stacey,
you like neutrals more but still you might want to check this one out, it is super pretty.

  27. LOL I don't know Linda, I was hiding in my office all day and I didn't have a class so maybe they didn't see me (let's hope!)

  28. Thanks so much, yes he did it again!
Please feel free to ask anything. I am using Nikon D5100 for all the photos. I believe though what is more important is the light. I have a spot in front of our full wall windows and it photographs there especially well. I have tried other spots but none worked for me.

  29. LOL right, not for everyday sort of but once you put it on, it is so GLAM.

  30. Hi Paddy,
it is too blue for me too but with all the shimmer from the skies, I am loving it to bits.
    Thanks for stopping by :-*

  32. Hallo Melanie,
ja ich weiss ich bin auch nicht Blau-Fan aber das ist wirklich besonders schön.

  33. Hi Jane,
you might want to check Selfridges once the collection launches in the beginning of November. I believe they send worldwide and for Switzerland you pay only European shipping but no tax, which is great. We all survive for many life spans without buying any more make-up I think lol.
You cracked me up with your self pity story lol, the same here but on me the effect takes up to a week! Think about it, each four weeks one week, 25% of my life I cry to self pity hahaha, how fun it is to be a woman!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Katherine, you are so right, it is Starry Night Sky on a clear day :-)
I think you might get a close effect with New Moon over a deep navy eye shadow. This one is a bit dramatic for work, that is for sure but if you like blues, you might still want to check it out.

  35. Hi Tatiana,
you are right, if you are not going to reach for it that often, it is a waste. That said this one is like special occasion killer glam, in case you might need it one day ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. LOL Hara, that is very kind of you to say that. I can wear this one daily but some people might find it too much. We make-up addicts though, we can't wait so long for a special occasion lol. I am in love with my earrings and the nail polish. Nail polish formula is to die for! Really, it is very long lasting and the shade is so so pretty. Thanks so much once more. A tip, if you will get one of Suqqu Holiday Kits, there is a nice blue gel liner that comes with it. You can use them here too.

    ReplyDelete
  37. You are right Alison, I haven't tried any Tom Ford liners until now. Now I am curious!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thank you , Sara, you right about Selfridge, they ship and they are a bit cheaper than Harrods since they add all local taxes and customs in a final price, but remove the UK tax. I remember that last year they also had 10% of their beauty products in November, so I may wait for it because Suqqu is there too :) and I won't get my piece of mind until I also buy some old Suqqu palettes. If TF will be sold out, I will buy the eyeliner then. I like it too.Or Suqqu Christmas kits will be online in Nov and they include a navy eyeliner too. ps. Being woman is a lot of fun, now imagine how much fun it is to live with a woman :-)

  39. Thanks, your face pictures always look great, and very consistent. I need to spend some more time finding 'the light' at home as I find it difficult to capture a look just right xx

  41. I spent some time at the nearest Tom Ford counter this afternoon. I tried Night Sky on, but even with the artist at the counter doing my makeup, it looked patchy on me and emphasized the age around my eyes. We agreed it was a look for a glam night out, which just isn't me. We removed it and tried something else, which I was very happy with. I did get the waterproof extreme mascara and the Black Out nail polish.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Finally checked this one out at the counter yesterday but, much as love TF and much as I had in mind your lovely photos showing it can look good on fair skins, this was too intense for me. Very pretty swatched though.

    ReplyDelete
  43. stunning - love black as always! But it's so hard to choose something I want the Noir de Noir scent so much but weirdly it smells a bit like the new launched noir pour femme - and it's way harder to email an TF press person to ask exactly this weird thing cuz no TF sales assistance knows the answer :D oh PS I am in love with night sky!!!! :)
