Chanel Les 4 Ombres Collection for Spring 2014, Swatches of all new Quads and Liners

Chanel released eight new quads and discontinued many of the existing ones. Today I at the Chanel counter in Breuninger, Stuttgart and lovely Sales Ladies & Gents supported me as I played with the quads and took many pictures. At first I wanted to make some photos because I couldn't swatched them all at once to decide, then I thought maybe it could be helpful for you too, so I would like to share the swatches and my first impression notes with you. There are also four new eye liners, three of them are going to be permanent, the swatches of those are at the end of the post. The swatches are at the same order as on the lovely display below.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Collection for Spring 2014, all shades on display

#232 Tisse Venitien
Top left: Deep satin forest green with a tad of blue (leans teal)
Top right: Light satin pink
Bottom left: Gorgeous complex green taupe with metallic finish
Bottom right: Very deep black with green hue, satin to matte finish

Impressions: This one is very pretty, therefore one of the two quads I took home with me. Pink is great to brighten inner corner, metallic shade is very complex and darker shades are without shimmer for proper deepening effect. (Note: Below darkest shade on the bottom right is swatched left most since there was no space left on right :-} )

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #232 Tisse Venitien

#202 Tisse Camelia
Top left: Mid-toned mauve taupe with shimmery finish
Top right: Light warm white with satin to shimmery finish
Bottom left: Light peachy pink with satin to shimmery finish
Bottom right: Deep cool brown with satin finish

Impressions: This quad is one of the softly pigmented ones with more satin to shimmer finishes. I got this one sight unseen before I could swatch them today so it should be on its way to me at the moment. I love the color concept of it but about the intensity, I will write once more after I try it.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #202 Tisse Camelia

#208 Tisse Gabrielle
Top left: Deep grey with blue/green shimmers, metallic finish
Top right: Light ivory with satin to shimmery finish
Bottom left: Deep purple/taupe with multi colored shimmer, I love this one!
Bottom right: A deep matte black

Impressions: This one is one of my favorites along with Tisse Venitien, therefore is the second one which came home with me. Lovely complex and pigmented shades and the matte black is just right for crease as well as liner. Expect to see this one in action very soon.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #208 Tisse Gabrielle

#226 Tisse Rivoli
Top Left: A deep coolish brown taupe with very complex shimmer and metallic finish
Top right: Very light peach with satin to shimmery finish
Bottom left: Warm mid-toned bronze with metallic finish
Bottom right: Deep warm bronze with satin to matte finish

Impressions: That shade on top left is to die for, seriously. Rivoli is going to me my next pick, very pretty. I can see blue eyes rocking this quad but it would also work wonderfully on warm complexions. On me it may be a little meh, but I don't care because I want that taupe ;-)

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #226 Tisse Rivoli

#224 Tisse Riviera
Top left: Mid-toned cool blue with metal finish
Top right: Very light off-white pulling slightly pink with satin to matte finish, not very pigmented
Bottom left: Light bluish grey/silver with metallic finish
Bottom right: Deep cool matte black

Impressions: I like three of the shades (light pink didn't perform very good). This quad is the only really cool one among eight, so if this is what you want, you may want to check it out. Matte black and mid toned metallic blue were the best performers.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #224 Tisse Riviera

#204 Tisse Vendome
Top left: Mid-toned khaki brown with satin to shimmery finish
Top right: Light off-white with peach undertones, satin to shimmery finish
Bottom left: Mid-toned very pigmented peach with satin to shimmery finish
Bottom right: Deep warm matte brown

Impressions: All four shades perform very good. Peach is very pigmented and gorgeous. Deepest shades is not very dark. It has a very interesting combination of khaki and peach. This would look fabulous on warm complexions.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #204 Tisse Vendome

#214 Tisse Mademoiselle
Top left: Mid-toned golden brown with satin to shimmery finish
Top right: Light off-white with yellow undertones, satin finish
Bottom left: Light gold with satin to shimmery finish
Bottom right: Deep brown with green undertones, satin to shimmery finish

Impressions: This one is my least favorite of the bunch. All the shades are rather soft and shimmery including the darkest shade. Wished that the gold would be as gorgeous as the metallic shades e.g. taupe in Tisse Venitien and wished the darkest shade would be more matte, but maybe it is just me.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #214 Tisse Mademoiselle

#228 Tisse Cambon
Top left: Mid-toned mauve taupe with shimmery finish
Top right: Light warm off-white with satin finish, not very pigmented
Bottom left: Mid-toned peachy pink with subtle golden shimmer
Bottom right: Deep reddish purple with matte finish

Impressions: This quad is very close to Chanel's Spring Quad and Duo. Taupe is lovely but white doesn't perform very good. Iridescent quality of pink is very pretty, wished purple would be a little deeper though.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #228 Tisse Cambon

Here are the swatches of four new shades of Long Lasting Eyeliner, Iris is a very pretty shimmery purple with blue undertones, Blue Metallique is a shimmery mid-toned blue. Smokey Grey is the only limited edition of the bunch and the only matte one, can be very handy if you like a softer liner on you lower lash line. Marron Glace is a warm bronze shade with gorgeous shimmer.

Chanel Long Lasting Eyeliner new shade swatches

Here is a very nice construction that was delivered to Breuninger Stuttgart, SA told me that there are only three of these in Germany, so I took a picture for you. Those were real quads, 45 of those were stuck around a cube, very cute.

Stuttgart Breuninger received one of the three fun Les 4 Ombres Cube which are being displayed in Germany.

My favorites of the collection are Tisse Venitien, Tisse Gabrielle and Tisse Rivoli but I like almost all of them since they seem to have a consistent quality across the board. I will review the ones I picked in more detail soon. Good news is that they are permanent. New quads have 2g of eye shadows and retail for 50 in Germany.

Have you checked these out? Which of them are your favorites?

  1. Oh I might need Tisse Rivoli indeed! I love Tisse Venitien as well, but I'm not sure if I'll get a lot of use out of it! Thanks for all the swatches, Sara!

  4. Is it just me that can't seem to get these to work? What is that magic trick everybody uses to avoid fall-out and actually get a saturated, well-blended application? I tried several on myself and others the other day, and I was not impressed - and I really wanted to need one.

    1. Hi,
I just swatched them today and these are first impressions. I can tell in more detail tomorrow once I apply one of those but what exactly you didn't like? Which one have you tried? LOL, one more question, have you tried these on your eyes or just swatched elsewhere (i mean arm and hand lol)?

    2. Venetien, Gabrielle (liked the plummy shade), Mademoiselle, Vendome. Appled to my own lids and others. They swatch beautyfully, but I had huge amounts of fallout when applying Venetien to my boss' lids. I got a lovely plummy taupe sheen from one of the shades from Gabrielle, so when the other shades didn't apply the way I wanted I layered that on top instead. The two netrals applied dry (although better than the old ones) and sheer. I wanted more intensity from most of the shades, and less fall out. My boss thinks it'll perform better when using fingers to apply, but if that is the case I won't be able to blend properly, adn will regret buying. There is a posibility that I might need to use denser brushes, as my "work-kit" includes rather floppy offerings that aren't in particular suited for packing on colour. Now I'm off to ask Sunny how she makes it work ;)

    3. Hi Siri,
I have worn Venetien yesterday, the one with the most metallic shade and it didn't fall out at all. I used a very dense (and rather small) brush made of horse hair. I don't think fingers are the way to go because you can't be very precise with your application that way. Keep on experimenting and let us know about your findings. xox

  5. Wowww...love your swatches and photos..that cube is really something, isn't it?!!! I cannot believe they actually stuck real quads and made that :D

On to the quads, I kind of get the feeling these are similar to the baked versions that have been coming out recently - like the Metamorphose quad - what do you think?

    1. Hi Rads,
after your comment, I just checked the ingredients of Jardin Zen Palette and you are right, they are one to one the same, also they both have 2 g of products (I don't have Metamorphose, how many g was that one)? That said the order or ingredients are not the same, that means the formula can have differences. I can only tell you after I apply those on the eyes but I really liked how the metallic shades felt and how pigmented they were. I don't know of any similar shade from recent releases.

  6. hi! do you know if this is limited only to overseas? i called chanel (i'm from the u.s.) and they said they had no information about these products. they told me the next things to arrive would be summer collection which should arrive 3rd week of april. thankyou for all your wonderful posts. i just love you and your blog!!! wendy from cincinnati, ohio (usa). xxx

    1. Hi Wendy,
as well as I know these will be released in US after Summer Collection, like Fascination and Seduction was released around August last year. I don't know though if it will be the same formula. My feeling tells me US formula won't change, but we will see. Canada received these quads though, in case you are living close or if there is a store which you would like to call.

  7. Thanks so much for all your lovely swatches. Gabrielle will have to be mine! My Chanel lady still has no information on these! How do you feel this formula compares to the newer Tom Ford releases?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Franlynne,
I think the formula of these are very different. Chanel's is more of a light weight, less powdery formula and there is no glitter shade either but there are breathtaking metallic shades, they are so complex and beautiful. I like Tom Ford's old and new formula too, it is very hard to compare though because they are so different.

  8. My picks are Gabrielle, Venitien and Rivoli too - in that order! :-) I am excited to try these new quads! ACK!!! Wish it gets here sooner! Thanks for the swatches, Sara! SUPER HELPFUL!

  9. Thanks so much for the swatch porn!! That bottom left green-taupe-shimmer colour in Venitien is so beautiful! I might need to get the quad just for that! Gabrielle, Vendome, and Cambon are big tempters for me too. How did the eyeliners apply? Hope it's much smoother and softer than some of the previous stylos.

    1. THAT shade in Venitien, it is killing me softly, lol. Yesterday I have worn it, not only it stays put all day without any fall out, but it doesn't fade nor crease and look stunning on the eye *happy sigh*, review coming up like tonight or tomorrow.
Eyeliners are a little softer, but let me review them properly for you, two of them (grey and brown one) are on their way to me.

    1. Thanks so much Ellie. I am right there with you about the mattes, Mademoiselle would be a bit better with one matte in that. You can wait for the reviews lol, they will be up very soon, I will review 4 of the quads and two liners, because I liked the formula and decided to get more :-}

    1. Hi Clare,
Mademoiselle was looking stunning on you but I don't think it would look the same on me lol.
I am also loving the formula, even like much more than some other powder formulas. I like how light weight it is but still pigmented and blendable. Also no fall out which I sometimes experience with very soft powders, so these are all winners in my book. I am trying hard not to get them all ;-)

  19. I too had a swatchy party on the day they recieved these here! Love the texture and the color combinations. For now I'm keeping my monies for Jardin Zen and a few other spring offerings from other brands but I know eventually I'll get a few of these. Tissé Camélia and Tissé Mademoiselle might be my firat picks. :)

Jardin Zen has the same texture but somehow these are more pigmented I think. You have to check and feel it yourself though. Camelia is to die for! I wore it yesterday, loved it!

Amazeballs!!! ^_^ I a few of the more metallic shades in Tisse Venitien, Tisse Gabrielle (LOVE!) and Tisse Rivoli remind me of my all-time fave quint from Chanel - Ombres Perlees! I love blue too, so Tisee Riviera is also calling to me.

I need these! Will have to contact Chanel AU to see when these will be in my neck of the woods... ;)
