Burberry Complete Eye Palette #15 Sage Green from Spring 2014 Collection, Review & Comparison

I just happened to receive my Burberry order tonight and I couldn't wait to share this one with you... The brand new green quad from their Spring 2014 Collection, Sage Green.

Burberry Complete Eye Palette #15 Sage Green

The packaging is the same as the permanent quads, comes with three applicators which can be kept inside the pocket of the velvet pouch.

Burberry Complete Eye Palette #15 Sage Green

Sage Green is a quad composed of soft colors of greens, one mid-toned bronze and a frosty pale ivory. It is very finely milled and soft to touch, color pay-off is good but as I mentioned those are rather soft colors so don't expect any drama here.

Swatched side by side, you can see that the shades don't offer a lot of contrast for defined eye looks. I think I might need a darker color to define the crease with this particular palette but I will let you know after I try these on my eyes tomorrow. I just wanted to post some swatches and comparisons for those of you who are considering to check it out. One of the greens is vivid and more shimmery, second one is subdued and almost matte. Bronze shade is gorgeous and complex, ivory is frost but looks nice and wearable.

I quickly pulled out some palettes which I thought to be close and two Burberry singles to compare with the bronze shade. I also checked Dior's Garden Pastels quad (not show here) which was very different and pastel! I am happy that Sage Green is not a proper pastel but more of a soft Spring palette.

Comparison: Burberry Complete Eye Palette #15 Sage Green, Burberry Pale Parley & Midnight Brown, Dior Bonne-Etoile, Giorgio Armani Venomous Green

I think the closest palette I own is Venomous Green of Giorgio Armani from their Fall 2013 Kaleidoscope collection (reviewed previously here).  You see Venomous Green offers more contrast and is for more dramatic looks (I kept thinking this is why I must be loving Fall for buying make-up)

Giorgio Armani Venomous Green vs. Burberry Sage Green

Next I would like to compare just greens of all three palettes. You see that Sage Green has two greens which don't resemble any others. Dior Bonne Etoile (reviewed here) has more metallic shades, just like the collection they were released with, named properly as "Mystic Metallics".

Once the bronze and browns are compared, you can see why I call Sage Green a "soft" palette. The darkest shade of Sage Green is just a little darker than Pale Barley! Now that I see this, I am not sure if these all show that well on me. I will try them on tomorrow and let you know. I will probably update this post then.

Final thoughts: I will try these on tomorrow and let you know but it all seems to be very soft and spring like so depends if you like it that way or not.

EDIT: You can see the eye and face look as well as read more thought on this quad here.

  1. They do look quite soft but quite typical of Burberry colors, aren't they?

    1. Yes they do, lol. Also matches to your nail polishes, green and the pale yellow one. I grabbed them too, they are lovely. I can't wait to try the pale yellow one!

    1. Hi Kate,
you always put everything so well into words. You are right, these are soft but vivid. Just posted the look, hope you like it. Armani's Kaleidoscope Collection was the worst enemy of my pocket lol, I love that one and the blue one alike.

  4. Oh thank you for the review and the comparison swatches, Sara. I usually like my eye makeup a little darker, so I'll pass on this. It's so beautiful though... Dior Bonne Etoile is right up my alley, and this reminds me to take it out and use it again :-) Fall collections are my favourite!

    1. Hi Alicia,
I hope you are enjoying yours. I am not getting the pink one because it looks even softer than this one and this one is really way softer than I usually wear.

  6. I always fall in love with green shades in the pa, but on the eyes, it does not seem right for some reason. That's mainly why I stopped buying them, well at least hihgend brands. I do buy drugstore green colours now and then :)
Looking forward how these colours will look on you!

    1. Hi Natalia,
I think it really depends on the tone of green. Some greens don't work with me either. You also have green eyes and I can imagine that some greens blend everything together, for me khaki doesn't work for example. You may want to experience until you find the right green. ;-) I just posted the look, hope you like it.

  7. Hey Sara, wow this one is pretty cool! I'm glad there is something different! My favorite green spring quad probably has to be the one from Guerlain last year. Man that one is memorable!

    1. LOL, I think you can still find the Armani one, I remember seeing it on their US website. Pale Barley: yes you need it ! :-*

  9. I fell for the bronzey shade, but seems pretty close to Pale Barley (which I already own), and I must say Pale Barley barely shows up on me. Anyways, I'll be waiting for a FOTD with it ;)

    1. Hi Anne,
just posted the look, yes that shade is very soft to define so this whole palette needs a darker shade added from another palette/single f you like defined eye looks. If you want to go for a wash of color, you may like it as it is.

  10. The bronze shade is stunning! Unfortunately, the green shades are too light/bright for my taste... I love darker, olive / khaki greens as I find them more sophisticated and I prefer them on my eyes. Great swatches, as always Sara! Did you get the Rose palette? That's the one that sparked my interest :).

    1. Hi Aida,
i haven't gotten the rose one but Jenny from Belletristic Beauty just reviewed it, you may want to check it out. On me olive/khaki tones don't work since they blend with my eye color. Glad the review was helpful.

  11. Oh these are all so gorgeous! Still, I would have a hard time working with most of these greens. The Burberry palette is my favorite but I doubt I would use the more emerald color. This is the kind of green I've never really been able to pull off since I have green eyes to begin with.

    1. Hi Icaria,
it probably depends what kind of green your eyes are. On mine these work but khakis don't, lol.
If you like Burberry, you may still want to check this one out, it is very Burberry in a way ;-)
