Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition #344 Atlantique for Transat Summer 2014 Collection, Review, Swatches & FOTD

Some lovely Dior pieces landed to Color Me Loud Quarters last week, which I gathered from different sources around Europe. All in all I am very excited about this collection, especially on the eyes and cheeks area. I would like to start my reviews with one of my favorites, which I didn't expect to love until the first swipe...

Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition #344 Atlantique for Transat Summer 2014 Collection

Dior 5 Couleurs #344 Atlantique is host in their signature quint compact, but the middle shade has matting pattern instead of usual CD letters. Atlantique is composed of three blue shades of different undertones and intensity, one glitter shade and a warm bronze/brown shade.

Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition #344 Atlantique for Transat Summer 2014 Collection

The first time I have seen this quad, I thought I wouldn't be able to pull off the pastel baby blue, nor was I expecting the difference between two other blues showing up on me. I was also a little nervous about the combination with brown. This must have challenged me and I wanted to try it out. I am glad I did. But before we come to that, let me introduce you to each shade.

Close-up: Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition #344 Atlantique

Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition #344 Atlantique consist of:

Top left: White semi transparent glitter.
Top right: Light pastel baby blue with matte finish. This one has a good intensity and doesn't look chalky on me.
Bottom left: Medium-toned blue with satin finish. Very fine silver shimmer avoids this shade from looking flat or dull.
Bottom right: Medium bronze brown with matte finish.
Center: Deep violet-blue with very parse silver shimmer and matte base.

All these shades are insanely pigmented and mostly "matte" (other than the shimmer shade) which make them very wearable. The color combination is very unique (do you know any other palettes which is similar to that one?).

Swatch: Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition #344 Atlantique

Here is Atlantique on the eyes. Although blue is not the favorite color on me,  I really liked the resulting effect. Here is baby blue on the inner corner, medium blue on the outer corner, brown in the middle and dark blue on the crease. I also used a little bit of glitter shade near my tear duct. Although there are 3 blue shades in the palette, I really like how distinctive they are even after blending. Do I sound impressed? Well, that is because I am.

FOTD with Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition #344 Atlantique

Final thoughts: Pigmented, edgy, unique, smooth, matte = winner in my book. Nothing else but love, when I least expected it. Don't pass this beauty just because it looks so blue...

Dior Transat Collection started to be released around the world. It should be in Germany in a week or two. Is your wish list ready? How do you find the combination of blue and brown?

  1. It's interesting that they put a brown in this palette, but the outcome is very edgy idd! I also really love that the shades are satin/matte, nothing but love for me!

    1. Hi Jen,
I was not expecting to pull this off but probably that brown grounds everything, if that makes sense. I love throwing a reverse color in the mix and find this very modern and beautiful.

  3. Gorgeous combination but I doubt it would work on me since the brown is too warm but on you it's stunning. I especially like the way you used the different colors. :)

    1. Warm stuff doesn't work on me either but all the coolness of blues so make the whole look rather cool, I would suggest you check it out for a change ;-)

    1. I can't imagine that you can't pull off blues with your very pretty blue eyes. And that brown would make them pop.

  7. This is really an interesting palette! I love the look you created with it: so edgy! I'd love to check out Sundeck, although it's not as if I needed ANOTHER neutral palette.

    1. I am going to post about Sundeck tonight or tomorrow, that is a lovely palette too. It is natural with a twist but maybe not as unique as Atlantique.
Sunny, I think you wear blues so well, you should do it more often ;-)) Just a reader's wish!

    1. Hi Linda,
I am sure you will love Atlantique as much as I do if not even more because on your eyes, it will look even better :-)
It was a little trick I played to get these ahead of time and it worked ;-) I love this collection much more than Trianon. It will be hard not to get everything lol

  10. Hi Sara, I found your reviews very useful and I was wondering if you are going to review the Chanel quad Tissé Gabrielle as I'd love to hear what you think! Thank you.

    1. Thanks so much for your lovely comment. I already took photos of Gabrielle and Camelia, which I will post probably next week. I also purchased two more, Riviera and Vendome, so expect these soon too :-) I think until the end of this month, you can find all the shades at the blog, maybe minus Mademoiselle because this one is just not me (not very pigmented and shimmery ;-))

    2. Thank you! I can't wait to read them so I will then finally treat myself to one of the quads!

  11. hi! you really made such a gorgeous look...is there anything that does not look good on you?!! i also love you coordinated outfits!! love!! so, i am confused why the u.s. is not getting the complete collection. i was at macy's and the sales associate said she only thinks saks fifth avenue will get the collection. and, it's so limited. there is only the blue quad. i've always bought something from dior's summer collection for as long as i can remember. my local stores have to be getting something before fall.i just can't believe that there will be no summer collection display. along with new bronzers, my local dior counter they has the new lip collection that you just reviewed but the display is half the size of the one you have pictured. they are lovely! interesting though that out of 3 other stores in the mall, macy's is the only 1 who carries those 2 new products. my saks in downtown cincinnati does not have a dior counter at all!! xxxooo to you!!

    1. Hi Wendy,
thanks very much for your kind words, I am glad to hear that you found this FOTD inspirational. It is heart breaking to see that companies go more and more local although world becomes more global each and every day. I also had to chase two nail polishes from Dior Spring Collection, which were only released in US. I really don't know about the marketing decisions behind different lipstick colors or different nail polish colors for different countries. I don't want to even start counting all that many beauties which are only released as Asia Exclusives. If you need something, please just send me an e-mail. I will do my best to get these for you here, :-*
