Dior Vernis #558 Tribale, #552 Smile, #868 Wonderful, #892 Be Dior for Addict Collection, Review, Swatch & Comparison

I hope you are all having a beautiful week. Mine started great but today a few things happened, which made me take a deep breath. I still feel nothing can really spoil my new job new life kind of mood. On the job front it is going great so far so I won't let blog things spoil that. Rant or not rant or not... No not today! :-)

Dior recently released a whole bunch of Dior Addict Lippies. These look like the ones from Tie & Dye Collection of this summer but in one full color. They are sheer and have a shine to them, some of the shades are more pigmented than the others. I am eyeing one plum/purple shade from the line-up but didn't have time to go and try it on. On my very brief visit to the counter, I picked up the limited edition nail polishes, Dior Vernis #558 Tribale, #552 Smile, #868 Wonderful and #892 Be Dior, which I would like to show you today.

Dior Vernis #558 Tribale, #552 Smile, #868 Wonderful, #892 Be Dior

I have mentioned in the past that Dior's nail polishes started to be very predictable and boring but this release has four of them with gorgeous micro shimmer, which doesn't only give them something super pretty to look at in the bottle but also they look much more complex and beautiful on the nails. Spoiler: I love all four!

Dior Vernis #588 Tribale is a mid-toned rosewood nude with beautiful golden micro shimmer. It is a very flattering nude for fall, it is there but doesn't take all the attention. Two coats are perfectly opaque and the consistency is exactly right. The balance between cool and warm is great in this color, I believe it will look good on a wide range of skin tones.

I was thinking there has to be a shade which is very close to the base color of Tribale but I was wrong. Chanel #521 Rose Cache and #663 Lovely Beige (reviewed here) are both lighter and warmer. Chanel #491 Rose Confidential is close but warmer, pulls more brown. Chanel #579 Paparazzi (reviewed here) is deeper and pulls more red. Guerlain #602 Tonka Imperial (reviewed here) is close but slightly deeper and warmer. Tom Ford #24 Black Sugar (reviewed here) is deeper.

Dior Vernis #552 Smile is a gorgeous orangy coral. It is so summery that I was very surprised to see this coming up for Fall. Nevertheless I love me a nice coral and Smile makes me smile with its golden micro shimmer and perfect formula. It is perfectly opaque in two coats as I am wearing in the photo. Had it been released for summer, I would have definitely taken this with me to the holidays and rock it on the beach. Now that I have a bit of tan going on, it looks especially gorgeous.

Dior #552 Smile is unique with its golden micro shimmer but the base shade is close to a few shades I have in my stash. Chanel #623 Mirabella (reviewed here) comes very close, although it is a tad more orange. Chanel #307 Orange Fizz is slightly more pink but very close too. Both of these are straight creams so you can still justify getting Smile even if you have them.

Other shades I have compared Smile to are: Dior #457 Bouquet (reviewed here) which is more pink, Chanel #203 Miami Peach is also cooler, pinkier. Tom Ford Coral Beach (reviewed here) is also more pink, Dior #237 Milly is more orange.

Dior Vernis #868 Wonderful may look like your everyday red but the bright but wearable tone and its red/pink micro shimmer is to die for. I love how classical yet unique it is. It may come to one of my all time favorite reds, Chanel Rouge Carat (comparisons below). I might even be loving Dior wonderful more. Time will tell. Again great consistency, applies like a dream, opaque in two coats as applied below.

I tried to pick up reds with micro shimmer from my collection. Comparison of reds to reds can be very tricky and time consuming, I hope this gives you an idea. Chanel #677 Rouge Rubis has a close base color but the pink micro shimmer makes Wonderful appear cooler. Chanel #671 Ecorce Sanguine (reviewed here) also has lovely micro shimmer but it is much deeper. Dior #758 Victoire (reviewed here) is brighter. Chanel #587 Rouge Carat is cooler.

The last one, Dior Vernis #892 Be Dior, is my favorite of the four, but for obvious reasons. Because it is a plum/purple! This is so so gorgeous. I am wearing it for the past five days and I am considering to reapply hah! Anyway I just would like to say, even if you don't like purples, I suspect you might like this one because it not too cool. I would describe it as a modern version of a red nail polish. It gives the chic and timeless look of a red but it is a plum. Does that make sense? Be Dior has more of a reddish base but bluish shimmer. The shimmer in that one is more faint in the bottle but on the nails you can tell that it is not a straight cream although you can't put your finger on it (but you can put this one on your finger, haha!)

Anyway, have I told you how much I love it?

Here are a few(!) close shades from my purple/plum heavy stash. Chanel #609 Coup de Couer (reviewed here) is slightly warmer and straight cream. You can see the difference between the two, Be Dior reflects light in a much more elegant way than a straight cream. Chanel #339 Cassis is lighter, Tom Ford #08 African Violet is cooler. Dior #338 Mirage (reviewed here) is also cooler. Dior #988 Diorette (reviewed here) is warmer, Chanel #599 Provocation, Dior #992 Galaxy (reviewed here) and Chanel #121 Mythe are all much deeper.

Final thoughts: All four of the new (and limited) nail polish shades of Dior have gorgeous micro shimmer which makes them look complex and beautiful on the nails. The consistency and formula is perfect and consistent throughout this release. My favorite is Be Dior but it is only because I die for shades like that. I am loving all four. Big thumbs up!

Have you checked the collection out? Are you eyeing any of the lippies or nail polishes?

  1. Oh you know me: Smile is my top pick! I don't think the collection is already available here, but I'll get to check it out next week. Can't wait! Looking forward to the more saturated lipsticks, as you can probably imagine!

  3. Be Dior is absolutely beautiful and I have a weakness for purple and plum shades myself! I have never owned a Dior nail polish before in fact!

Glad to hear your new job is going well!

  4. i hope no one is being mean again on those stupid make up forums!!!! if that is what the suppressed rant was about - don't let those dummies get to you!!! :-)

hmmmm....i love the Dior formula but i have to confess to not being drawn to these particular colors. the Tribale reminds me a little of Chanel Tenderly.

thank you for the swatches!! xoxo

  5. My favourite has to be Be Dior too! These have the same name as the new Dior Addicts, which reminds me... I got to get the lip swatches done. LOL!

  6. Wow, the first picture is great!♥
I like Be Dior but it's not a must have for me.

  7. Tribale and Be Dior are calling out to me. I feel a shopping event is in my near future! Thanks for trying all these beautiful colors, photographing them and then posting them on-line. I cannot imagine how much time this took.

  8. Seriously that Be Dior is gorgeous! Thanks for showing us these. Hope
that the blog related things don't get you down, good to take in all the
positives of your new job and says nuts to any negativity :)

  9. These look stunning. I am drawn to Be Dior. Those purple-plum-fuschia nail colors are the center of my addiction. It triggers something like "see-must have." Thank you for showing the comparison to Mirage, which I have, and which helps remind me of my vast collection in this color range. At my new job, no one wears makeup, let alone nail polish. So while I am in the "fitting in" period I am just going with nude colors. Glad to hear your job is working out so well. It was a good move for you.

  10. Nice colours and finishes but not very coordinated for the season. I feel Tribale is too late after Chanel released all those Beige Nudes and Smile should have been a Spring/Summer release. I may have to grab Be Dior. Btw your comparison wheel reminded me how much I love Cassis and that it's a good time to bring that one out of storage!

  11. I was so waiting for your review! Every color suits perfectly on you! I am quite afraid of Smile because I am fair and orange scares me a little.of course I purchased the other 3 :) My picks in the new Dior Addict lipsticks are Be Dior, Black Tie,Fashion Night and unexpectedly Tribale which is a very complicated coral not so orange pinky shade with a wonderful shimmer :) Could you please send me your postal address to my email?
    :*

  12. I love all of these, and plan to pick up all four! However, they haven't been released yet here. I'll be curious to see how Smile compares to Sunnies from a few years ago, since I found Sunnies to be just a tad more coral than Mirabella.

  13. Tribale and smile are gorgeous!! Be Dior reminds me of Chanel April. Yay for dream jobs, glad this move was right for you! Thanks for the detailed review.

  14. Sara, isn't the last one very similar to Cosmopolite? How do they compare? Which one do you like better?

  15. None of these shades really call to me, but your nail swatches are always so bright and helpful! :)

  16. Hi Jenni,
I am glad that they were helpful, it takes a long time to prepare posts like this ;-)

  17. Hi Alex,
you are right, there is a similarity for sure, how did I skip that one in the comparison wheel, geez!
Now the difference, Cosmopolite is more brown/red, Be Dior is more pink and more vivid. Cosmopolite is low key. And of course Be Dior has shimmer, Cosmopolite is a straight cream.
I am always asking at Instagram during the reveal of the swatches if anyone would like to see a comparison. Please come and join us, so I can prepare the post for the wishes :-)

  18. Yes Chanel April, I love it. It is close to Coup de Couer, which is more red, less pink.
I am not sure if the job was right for me. Semester haven't started yet. Let's speak after I see the students haha

  19. Hi Jess,

these are beautiful, I think you are right by having all four in your wishlist. I go through all my stash and compare them in the bottle. I remember seeing Sunnies and putting it back because it was different. I also didn't include Lilis from Chanel which is close:

    http://www.colormeloud.com/2013/06/dior-vernis-448-sunnies-from-2013.html

See these are all very bright corals but Smile is a soft coral like Coral Beach or Miami Peach. Hope that helps.

  20. Hey Hara,
now they last time we spoke you purchased 2, now I see you got the third one. This is always bad to leave out one. It works like that for me, I can leave out two but I can never leave out one, does that make sense? haha we need rehab, you and me both. Let's do that on a greek island which doesn't have Sephora ;-)
I have to yet try the new Dior Lipsticks. Tribal sounds great, I am eyeing Fashion Night which is purply right?

  21. Hi Susan,
yes the nail polishes which are released with lipstick collections are usually not really seasonal. Lipsticks also have all kinds of different shades, some are summary, some are better for fall or winter. Chanel does it good, they usually release a few limited edition lipsticks at the time collection is released, fitting to the season. They then match them with some nail polishes so everything becomes seasonal. Be Dior is gorgeous, Cassis is one of my all time favs, have two of that. I have to wear it more often as well!

  22. Yes the same here, center of my addiction, love this phrase ;-)
Booh for the non make-up lover colleagues. Maybe you inspire them to get more into make-up? I have almost no woman colleagues, like zero at the moment so I set the trends hahaha! How are you liking your new job? (other than make-up of course)

  23. Hi, thanks for stopping by to comment. I need to put down the blog's prio and focus more on preparing the lectures at the moment but each time I make a move for that, something pops up which makes the blood rush to my head, booh. Anyway I think out of necessity this have to stop because I am teaching 3 courses and I don't have time to deal with these haha!

  24. Dear Tatiana,
thanks so much for this comment. I truly appreciate it that you think about how long it took rather than just scrolling through the page, writing a wish list and leaving without writing anything. Especially comparison swatch posts take almost a full day to complete since I have to go through the monster stash one by one, swatch, take photos, label. But as long as it is appreciated and helpful, I am more than glad to do it. *big hugs*

  25. Hi Melanie,

Be Dior is lovely, it is a bit like your present, Michael Kors Cabaret, less metallic but both are so beautiful ♥

  26. I am waiting curiously for your post. I will pick a few of the shades but first would like to hear what you think of them :-)

  27. Hi SJ,
I stopped translating the forums after that incidence. I don't care about that particular forum anymore lol. Ignorance is bliss ;-))
Right now it is more like PR and how the samples are distributed. Somehow I have problems from PRs in Germany probably because I don't write in German. That but also in Germany blogs are not appreciated. They sometimes send one item from a collection of 30 pieces and expect me to write a review with this and use their promo photos. I can't test a collection with just one lipstick and I don't find the promo photos interesting. So I go and buy the things. You know what happens? If you buy things yourself, they don't send you anything. It is "she is buying anyway" *deep sigh*
Back to business Chanel Tenderly is more mauve, Tribale is more rosy, like Rose Confidential. I hope this helps.

  30. Yes smile fits you so perfectly. Lipsticks are not all that saturated I am afraid, but there might be a few which have more pigment than the others. I am waiting for your review on these.

  31. Ha-ha-ha. Not very likely. I have worked mostly with men a lot and it's very different. It's exactly that style that I have to tone down a bit-- takes some adjustment. I have a bit of a standout personality -- Leo and all that. But I don't mind. I have nothing to prove in that regard. But I have two days off, so I am debating -- do I wear Mediterranee before the season is over? and switch to Dragee when I go back to work? Or not bother because I will be going to the beach? Good problems to have! And I do like the work a lot. How about you?

  32. I'm happy that your new job is going great (ignore the rest :-*)!!!! I love polishes with hidden shimmer, I think it spices up also more "classic" shades. These all are nice, but my favorite is Be Dior. Gorgeous purple <3

    ReplyDelete
  33. Plums should mos definitely have their own 'chic and timeless' catergory, 'Be Dior' more than makes the case for it, as you say!
Love your nail posts, especially the colour wheels, I love pretend-picking which one I would buy, if only funds allowed... X

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Sara, if you didn't mention micro-shimmers, I wouldn't have known! But for some reason i'm just not feeling this collection's nail polishes at all. The colors look very similar, and don't feel very fall-y to me. Anyway I hope your new job is starting out well!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes I know that Leo vibe! You are going to the beach? Now aren't you lucky? I feel like I need to run away for another week lol.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Be Dior is seriously to die for! Big love, insert hearts and everything.
You are right, we spend so much time at work, if that one goes well, all else somehow adjusts itself nicely ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Linda,
yes it is a bit off seasonally but I prefer these shades more to the lifeless green and blue from the fall collection. It is all personal of course.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Aw, that is so sweet of your to say. It seems my nail posts are the most read but yet again it takes the longest time so I am trying to keep up with them.
I have a collection of those nail wheels. Sometimes when I have time, I play with them at home, it is so much fun to see shades of a certain color.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes, very lucky. My new job is in a place much nearer to the beach. Though I have been once since getting here, it's still nice to know it is there. Where do you go in the Mediterranean?

my family own a house at the west coast of Turkey. The area is called Bodrum, it is across the Greek island called Kos. This is exactly where the refugee crisis is going on right now, it is so sad :-(
I would love me a job near the ocean. I have a big river close by mine. never went there to check it out ;-)
