Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach & Lip Color Sheer in Rose Soleil, Review, Swatch, Comparisons & FOTD

I hope you all had a good start in the week. Today was not a very productive day for me but hoping that it will get better during the week. It is a short week in Germany though. Are you having bank holiday on Thursday too?

Today I have two more pretties from Tom Ford Summer Collection for you (you can find my other reviews here, here and here). I thought two products from the collection would make a match made in heaven. I am talking about sheer lips in shimmery natural pink with Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer in Rose Soleil and peach gold on eyes with Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach

Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach & Lip Color Sheer in Rose Soleil

I mentioned about the packaging of Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duos in my previous post. Duos come in a similar packaging to Tom Ford Eye Primers. There is a powder on top and cream product in the bottom. For this limited edition collection, the packaging is in white.

Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach has a lovely pink/peach cream shade with metallic finish which was previously released separately as Pink Haze two years ago. You can see my original review here. Pink Haze is a beautiful swipe and go shade, especially in summer combined with a good doze of bronzer, it is breathtakingly stunning. Top celestial shade in #03 Golden Peach was rumored to be the same as one of the glitter shades from Tom Ford Quad in Golden Mink. I checked for you (you can see swatches below) and it is indeed true. So theoretically if you have Pink Haze and Golden Mink, you don't need #03 Golden Peach. That said I find it practical to have two of these gorgeous shades in one packaging (Tom Ford addiction anyone?).

Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach

The peachy shade in bottom is beautiful combined with the golden shade on top. Together they become more peachy, less pink. The effect is hard to photograph since it is all about how the light reflects on your eye lids.

Swatch: Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach

Below I am wearing the cream all over the lid. I also applied some glitter by tapping it over the cream shadow with my fingers. I recognized if you do that while the shadow is still wet, you get less fall out during the day, probably since the glitter sticks in the base better. I recommend applying each eye separately, such as first left eye cream, then left eye glitter, and move on to the second eye. I also applied MAC Quarry on the outer corner, very lightly so that the simplicity of the peach eye doesn't get spoiled. I need a bit of definition on my crease though, or my eyes may look puffy.

In-action: Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach

Here are comparison swatches for Pink Haze (from Summer 2013) and the cream part of #03 Golden Peach. You can also see that Golden Mink celestial shade is exactly the same as the top glitter shade of Golden Peach. The following swatch is taken with sun light. You can see how beautiful the layered shade twinkles.

Comparison Swatches: Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach

Here are a few more comparisons with Chanel Stylo Eye Shadows #27 Pink Lagoon (reviewed here) and #127 Laurier Rose (reviewed here). Laurier Rose is a little deeper and more pink. On the eyes I by far prefer Tom Ford formula, in terms of application, the look and longevity. Chanel Illusion d'Ombre #817 Envol (reviewed here) looks close in the pan but the formula of Illusion d'Ombre has more transparency, thus it is lighter.

There are four Lip Color Sheers in Tom Ford Soleil Collection, two of which are repromotes, called Sweet Spot and Paradiso. Two of the new colors are Skinny Dip (reviewed here) and Rose Soleil. Rose Soleil is a sheer natural pink with gold/copper shimmer and frost finish. Depending on how the light reflects, it looks like pinky or more coppery on the lips. It is a beautiful sheer lipstick, which is unique to my collection. You see below that one the swatch it looks warmer than on my lips. FOTD below gives a better idea of the color.

Swatch: Tom Ford Cream Lip Color Sheer in Rose Soleil

Here is the look in context. I think I should have applied more bronzer for this one, but this way you can see how pale my face looks at the moment and how it would work on fairer ladies. I am wearing Tom Ford Cream and Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach on the eyes, Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer in Rose Soleil on the lips and Cream Cheek Color in Pink Sand on the cheeks. I think the products combine beautifully together to give a natural and polished look for a summer day.

FOTD: Tom Ford Cream/Powder Duo #03 Golden Peach & Lip Color Sheer in Rose Soleil

Final thoughts: Both Golden Peach and Rose Soleil are lovely products to give an effortless polished look you can wear to professional settings (a little less glitter) and a summer night out (more glitter) alike. If you have Pink Haze cream eye shadow and Golden Mink Quad though, keep in mind that you are getting repromotes.

What is your favorite color on the eyes and lips for summer?

  1. Hey Sara, ha now I want Golden Peach, too LOL OK fine, I don't need it. I still think it's going to look too pink on, but it's very beautiful on you! These duos are great for fuss-free looks that are just completely put-together :)

  2. I was tossing up between Naked Bronze and Golden Peach and I ordered Naked Bronze. Now I want this one. I'm loving Rose Soleil on you.

  3. Hi Sara, i dont think Rose Soleil looks that different on us... and i really love how summery it looks in combination with Golden Peach! I was going to post my review on these eye duos last night... but well.... time is fleeting! ;) Maybe after the summer collections are done, I can take a nice long break and just sleep!

  4. It's too warm for me, but that layered orange-gold shadow is so stunning looking!! And Rose Soleil is gorgeous!

  5. I have both:-) lipstick reminds me of 70's so much. Can't wait to play with it. I'm still tempted to get midnight sea.

  6. Yay! The review I was waiting for! I'm loving Golden Peach too! Only thing I'll say is that I have to use a base with it (Laura Mercier), otherwise it creases after 2-3 hours. But my eyelids can be fairly oily, so there you go. The lipstick is divine as well! x

  8. Aside from the palette, these two products were the most tempting to me! Both are gorgeous on you and, as you say, effortless! xo

  9. This is one of the prettiest looks I've seen on you, and the joy is that it is so simple to apply! I wore this combo for Mother's Day on Sunday :).

  10. These look great on you. I don't have access to a Tom Ford Beauty counter, so I ordered a few pieces from Toronto, but passed on these two because I feared they might be too warm for me. I'm going to the US next month, so I will hopefully be able to check them out in person and maybe splurge some more. :-)

  11. I already have Pink Haze and Spice from previous releases. Although they are beautiful all on their own--and I do frequently wear them that way--for spring into summer I have been using the glitter shades from the Golden Mink quad to update them. (Thanks to Sabrina for bringing that to my attention) A light pressing of TF's legendary fairy dust on the moveable lid creates a gorgeous now you see it; now you don't sparkle that captivates with every blink of the eye. Of course, a person can get heavy handed and end up with enough glitter to satisfy a beauty queen, but I don't think that is what the elegant Mr. Ford had in mind when he created his adult glitter. TF is more about the sexy tease.

  12. Hi Sunny,
LOL you know Tom Ford is a rabbit hole. We are all falling but I feel like you came very close too if not already there yet ;-)
You are right, they are fuzz-free, great for travel and stuff. I want Midnight Sea too!!!

  13. Haha, I know how it goes, both Naked Bronze and Golden Peach are great for everyday look. Naked Bronze is the warm one, this is the cool. Depending on what is flattering on you, you can decide. Also Naked Bronze is a little deeper, and Golden Peach is lighter. Rose Soleil is a very lovely shade.

  14. I think Rose Soleil look different at every angle on me, I was trying to photograph and see that the lip photo and FOTD look like two different lip sticks. This is why probably I thought on you it looks different. I am thinking everyday that I am almost done with Summer Collections but it seems there is more and more. Now I have Bobbi Brown and Estee Lauder, and maybe Clarins? We will see...

  15. Hi Katherine,
actually Pink Haze (the cream) is rather cool. It is even borderline cool on me although I can wear cool eye shadows as long as they are not silver. Naked Bronze is the warmer option. Maybe on the photos it appears orange, but it is more pink/peach. Rose Soleil is really very lovely.

  16. Haha Gosia, you might be right. I am tempted by Midnight Sea as well!
Need! I am checking the online offerings everyday, I hope it doesn't take forever until they come to Germany *sigh*

  17. Oh this creases on you? Wow, on me it wears like iron. But again almost nothing creases on me, so I shouldn't be taken as a reference on this issue. Lipstick rocks!

  18. Hi Agata, yes it is lovely. It is a bit lighter than I am used to (smokey eyed gal here) but getting used to wearing it like this :-) Thanks :-*

  19. Hi Jenni,
can't wait to see your look with the Palette. Yes these are for effortless polished look. Palette does that too though, you will love it!

  20. Aw, Bella, thanks so much. Usually I go more for deeper shades on my eye lids because naturally I have deeper shade there so light shades make my eyes look a bit swollen. It is super simple, I apply both with fingers, you too? Lovely for a special casual day. I am glad you like them too!

  21. Hi Jess,

Golden Peach is anything but warm. It is really cool on me, almost borderline cool. With gold it warms up a bit but not that much really. Yes the best thing is to check them out in person. I hope Tom Ford will become more widely available. I heard that they are about to launch a proper counter in my city. Right now all we have is nail polish and lipstick. I am so excited!!! First night I might end up sleeping by the counter between the pretties hahaha.

  22. Hi Eileen,

it is indeed a great idea to combine a bit of sparkle in Tom Ford's already stellar eye shadow formula. As you pointed out, it is especially stunning in summer, once the light hits. I also like tapping just a small amount with my fingers for a subtle effect. That sexy tease is killing my wallet elegantly, since these pretties wink at me at every blog I read ;-))

  23. Well, I'm going to TF counter on Thursday so I can pick it up for you if you want. I still need to post the oils for you. Sorry for the delay.

  24. It's interesting that you say that...all the swatches I've seen have made it look quite coppery and warm! It is hard to tell just based on swatches how something will look. How close in tone would you say it is to Chanel Laurier Rose? In your photo (and on my screen), they look pretty similar, and Laurier Rose turned terracotta on my skin. However, Envol is a favourite of mine and something I wear frequently.
I hear you about the counter. I was so excited when Nordstrom opened here, but then I discovered that they only carry one tiny display of TF lipsticks and nail polishes (probably similar to what you have in your city!). I was crushed.

  25. Hi Jess,
I swatched them side by side to check again. Actually the swatches above are quiet accurate. Laurier Rose turned terra-cotta? Hahaha gosh... I would say Golden Peach is warmer than Laurier Rose but not as coppery as it is, warmest of them all is Envol to me, see it is more of a gold less pink. So maybe it is not about being warm but undertones matter?

  26. Hi,
aw, thanks so much for offering. I believe the duos will be a little less expensive in Germany, so I can feel better buying it (since I have the cream color already) so I think I will wait. My patience is coming to an end though lol.
Don't worry about the oil, send it whenever it is convenient for you. Xox

  27. Rose Soleil looks really unique, and even though it's sheer it seems so beautiful on you!!! Great post as always! xxx

  28. Hi Ingrid,
yes it is a sheer beauty :-) Pearly effect is a little dated but with this one it looks very sophisticated in a way. Thanks :-**

  29. Literally sitting on my hands to prevent myself buying Golden Peach to stockpile Pink Haze. Rose Soleil is also back-up worthy in my opinion as it is so soft I am going through mine in record time. Just a beautiful, flattering lip colour. How does he do it? Susan, London

  30. Most eyeshadows crease on me and if they don't then my eyes have the tendency to absorb the colour. Unless I use a base. There are a few cream eyeshadow formulas that work better though - Shiseido creams work well so far for example, and some of the mac paint pots.

  31. Yes, I do with fingers too, and I know all about puffy eyes since I have hooded puffy eyelids. I've used a tad of Burberry Silk in Almond in the crease; I do it when I wear Burberry Shell Glow too.

  32. What a lovely look, Sara! Rose Soleil looks gorgeous on you!

  33. I forgot you get better prices for eye shadows. I have a make up lesson at TF counter tomorrow. We shall see how midnight sea performs in action.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hahaha Susan, sitting on hands? That made me laugh out loud really!
The collection is not released in Germany yet, I am waiting to get Midnight Sea. I know I don't need it but I want it irrationally. Don't back up though, they are repromoted frequently. Also new pretties will be released :-)
