Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #10 Senso Review, Swatch & Comparison

I hope you are all having a great weekend. I have been super excited about the new eye product of Armani, Eye Tints, since the promo images started appear. I have been head over hills with all the eye products the company recently released, just to name a few, Eyes To Kills, Macro-Color Solo Eye Shadows and recently released Eye & Brow Maestros. This is why I had high expectations with Eye Tints as well. As I laid my hands on one of the shades recently, I would like to share my thoughts with you today.

Packaging

Giorgio Armani Eye Tints come in a similar tube to their glosses but with a very chic silver lid. It has to be twisted to be opened. The brush inside is slightly tilted and sturdy to make the application easy. Since the tip of the brush is thinner, it is also possible to apply the eye shadow under the eyes, along the lower lash line. Of course it is always possible to get some of the product at the back of your hand and apply with a brush for extra hygiene. I am usually lazy in the mornings so I apply directly with the provided brush. As you twist to close the lid, it has a security (a second click) if you twist further for the eye shadow not to dry, similar to mascaras.

Formula/Color

Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #10 Senso is a mid-toned to deep plummy brown with gorgeous multi colored shimmer. This shimmer transfers to the eyes in a very understatedly beautiful way. Once applied it looks like dimension but not shimmer, if that makes sense. It is hard to compare it with any other formula in terms of shimmer. Stick eye shadows or cream ones tend to look more metallic or shimmery. #10 Senso has more of a base color compared to these.

Since the formula is rather fluid, it sheers out after it is applied. In fact it can be sheered out to a wash of color or can be build up for intensity. I tried to apply multiple layers and it didn't look cakey. After a certain intensity is build, it didn't change the appearance even if more layers are added.

Shade Comparison

I have made an attempt to find a similar eye shadow in my stash. Rouge Bunny Rouge has a similar formula, it is called Long-lasting  Cream Eye Shadow Silk Aether (reviewed here). They also have a plummy brown in the range, called Chiffon Ringlet. I thought it would be close but Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #10 Senso is cooler and has more plum/purple inside. I then thought about By Terry but obviously picked up the wrong shade Bronze Moon, lol. Maybe Misty Rock would have been closer, still they are both more shimmery and warmer. Tom Ford Spice is so different, much warmer but shimmer quality is close. Everything was looking warmer so I thought I should give Laura Mercier Amethyst a go. This one turned out to be the closest but on the eyes they are very different. Amethyst is cooler and lighter, with more shimmer. Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #10 Senso is denser with less shimmer but more dimension. Needless to say I prefer Senso to all of the shades below.

Application

Although Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #10 Senso looks to every deep at the swatches, once applied you can sheer it down as much as you want so it is a very versatile shade. Below I have gone for a full coverage application and you see that it only appears to be mid-toned. Although I haven't tried the lighter shades of the range, I can already see that I would like the deeper shades more since those can be applied both as a wash of color or build up as desired. I have taken the photo with flash on the eyes to show you the dimension of the eye shadow.

I really liked the ease of application and the finish it provides. During application, although it sets quickly blending the corners was not an issue. I have used a clean fluffy brush for this. Eye tint is claimed to stay over 16 hours, I have tested it without primer (as pictured here) and found out that after 10 hours it was still intact.

Edit: Ingredients list is as follows

Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #10 Senso List of Ingredients

There are twelve shades in the line and they will be join the permanent collection. Check out Cafe Make-up for swatches of all the shades. I am definitely eyeing Shadow and Émeraude.

Availability/Price: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints are released in the States and Canada. They will be released next week in Germany (mid-January is given as release date). They are priced around 32€ doe 6.5 ml/0.22Oz.

Final thoughts: Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #10 Senso is love at first sight for me. I will definitely be getting more once they are released. I especially recommend Senso for hazel/green eyes but its natural undertones would make it flattering across different complexions.

Have you checked out Eye Tints yet? Which shades are you eyeing?

The product in this post is provided free of charge for my consideration.
I am not paid for this review, all opinions are honest and my own.

  1. Just when I was contemplating getting No. 14 or 16 in the macro solos, this comes along. This looks gorgeous on you. All you have to do is say Plummy Brown and I'm in. Armani's eyeshadow offerings have been my favourite of this last year and work the best on my 55 year old eyelids. Fran:)

    1. Hi Fran,
I am happy to hear that you have made good experience with Armani Eye Shadows. I love their monos, in all forms and this one is no exception. I am glad to hear that I can wear them also after I get a little older, yay! :-)

  4. Senso looks gorgeous! I don't know how many times I've *almost* bought the Amethyst Caviar Stick, but something was always holding me back. Now I don't want that anymore. I definitely want this instead! :)

    1. Yay for not investing on Amethyst because this one is double gorgeous :-)
I also like the shimmer properties of these more than any other stick eye shadow (you name it, Marc Jacobs, Laura Mercier, By Terry)

    1. Hi Sunny,
I recall you liked Amethyst as well so probably you would like this one even more because it is more natural and more pigmented. The formula is a winner. I would be very interested to see if they stay on you so long as well.

  8. Great review, I've been interested in these but was wondering if there would be blending issues like these fluid type eye shadows can often have, so that's really helpful to see how nicely its blended on you with no hard edges. I'll have to get some of these when they come out here x

    1. Hi Clare,
these blended very easily. I used a fluffy clean brush to do that.
I can't wait to read your review and see what color you picked up. There are some very nice shades in the range.

    1. Hi Wendy,
the same here, I am loving my Tom Ford Cream Eye Shadows for the same reason. In the morning when I don't have much time to get pretty, I just smear a little on my lids, mascara and I am done!

    1. I will pick up at least two more and write the rest in the wish list. They are permanent so I will probably be acquiring them slowly. I can see my self ending up with 6-7 in a few months ;-)

  14. I picked up Rose Ashes, a lighter shade and am just blown away. I don't have any trouble building it up either, so it sounds like the line is pretty consistent. Glad to know your experience with a deeper colour was similar. Looks wonderful with your eyes!

  15. Hi Sara, Senso definitely looks lovely! But i hate the whole applying and smudging it into nothing and having to layer up to get to the right intensity... so lazy! And btw, wow Chanel Le Volume mascara looks amazing on you!! You must have lovely long lashes.... on me, the mascara does nothing. :((

  16. I thought it would be closer to TF spice but it looks like it has a purple/grey tint to it. OK, this one is also added to my list.

Aqua, Propylene Glycol, Talc, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Lauroyl Lysine
there are some silicones after these, if you search for something I can check it too.
