Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture Eau de Toilette, Review & Photos

I hope you had a great start into the weekend. Unfortunately we don't have water at home so we have to rent a flat for a week or two. Moreover to get to know one of our neighbours' real face was not really something we would ever like to experience. I hope the situation will be solved as soon as possible but the unpleasant taste will certainly not forgotten.

I get my mind off ugly things, I made pretty photos of the new version of Elie Saab's Le Parfum a few days ago but I couldn't find the time to write about it because I was travelling this week (yes, that too!). Here I am sniffing my wrist in delight and testifying how big of a fan i am of Francis Kurkdjian's work ( some my favourites include Dior Eau Noire, Burberry My Burberry and Narciso Rodriguez For Her). My thoughts about Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture Eau de Toilette is right after the jump.

Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture Eau de Toilette

Right on time for Valentine's Day, Elie Saab Le Parfum gets pink & feminine. The Rose Couture Eau de Toilette version stay true to its original while bringing in one of the most popular florals to its heart... Rose.  Here are the notes provided by the brand:

Top Notes
Orange blossom, Peony, Rose

Heart Notes
Rose, Jasmine, Vanilla, Fruits

Base notes
Sandalwood, Patchouli

Visually it reminds us of the original too with its diamond cut elegant glass flacon, this time coloured in light rose. Although the cap is made of plastic, it harmonizes beautifully with the rest to give the impression of a huge precious stone.

The signature orange blossom opening of the original Elie Saab Le Parfum, sensual jasmine heart and a touch of masculinity with patchouli in its base is still recognisable. The roses add an additional dimension of floral top and heart. The opening is delicious with the light hearted peonies paving the way to the beautiful combination of jasmine and more rose. Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture Eau de Toilette is definitely for those who like rose, not in a natural rose water way (e.g. Jo Malone Red Roses, reviewed here) but more in an elegantly dressed way.

Although Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture is more of a long night dress than jeans and t-shirt, there is something casual and easy-going about how Eau de Toilette manifests itself. My favourite part, the top notes are long lived but certainly live up to the expectation. Jasmine is nicely balanced by roses and is not very dominant. The woody qualities, combined with a touch of powderness kick in quite soon and stay soft and office-friendly. Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture stays around 4-5 hours on me which is moderate for EdT concentration.

Final thoughts: As one wouldn't expect otherwise from Francis Kurkdjian, Rose Couture finds the right balance between staying true to the original an reinventing it. The elegance of the pink coloured, diamond shaped bottle reflects with the refined floral notes with a touch of fruits and woods. Rose Couture gets a little powdery but not overpoweringly so. Jasmine's new facet with roses is beautifully composed, wearable and inviting.

PS: Check out Instagram, I am giving a bottle of this.

  1. This sounds nearly perfect, except for the patchouli and powder-y base. Not sure about that. I do like roses. My favorite rose was one I got in France years ago-- don't recall the name though I once went on a hunt for it and never found it.

  2. Thank you always for the love, Sara! :** I love how you described this as more of a long night dress than jeans + tshirt. To me, it's quite an intimate scent as well.
