Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée and Nude Pearl Gloss Pen, Review, Swatch & FOTD

I hope you are having a lovely weekend. We started our visitors and travels round for May. This weekend and the beginning of next week my mother in law is visiting us. Then my parents will be visiting next weekend. After that we will be traveling all together. I will try to schedule some posts but I might be a little slower with comments. Please bare with me until the end of May.

Today I have two illuminating products for summer, from this year's Estée Lauder's Bronze Goddess Collection, Illuminating Powder Gelée and Nude Pearl Gloss Pen. Let's get the glow on, right after the jump!

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée and Nude Pearl Gloss Pen

Estée Lauder's gelée products are very popular for a good reason. It feels silky to touch, they have good pigmentation and they apply beautifully without giving disco ball effect but being still illuminating. Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée is no exception. Oyster like design makes something to adore and watch from this product in beautiful consistency. Since gélee products are not very soft and powdery, the design is preserved even after multiple uses.

After trying out different applications with Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée, the best way that works for me is to apply it all over the face after a matte bronzer, to bring the bronzy glow, or "Bronze Goddess" out. The undertones of Powder Gelée is rather warm, almost orange but once applied, thus sheered out, it doesn't look orange on me. Since it is a little deeper than my skin color, it doesn't work as a highlighter on the high points of the cheeks. Once you have the bronzer underneath though, it proves a nice natural glow, which is not over the top.

Once the face is glowing, now it is time to bring it to the lips. There are three Gloss Pens in the collection, Nude Coral, Nude Pearl and Nude Bronze. Nude Pearl is a transparent gloss with golden shimmer. It doesn't feel glittery on the lips and the gloss is not sticky, comfortable to wear. I am not a gloss girl so I doubt I will use it very often, although I enjoyed it combined with more color on the eyes and a bronze glow over the face. The product can be dispensed by twisting the white tip multiple times, hence it is called "Gloss Pen".

Here is a look with Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée over the cheeks, forehead, nose over Guerlain Terracotta #02 Natural (review coming up soon). On the eyes I am wearing Estée Lauder Courrèges eye shadows in Aqua Silver (reviewed here) and Black Silver. Some of you told me over Instagram that Black Silver doesn't apply very smoothly. On me it was a little drier in texture once compared to Aqua Silver. I applied Black Silver all over the eye lid and layered Aqua Silver on top from the inner lid to the half way for the look below. On the lips I am wearing Estée Lauder Nude Pearl Gloss Pen on its own.

Here is the same look, different angle to show more of the bronze glow.

Check out the reviews of Swatch & Review and Charismafull to see it on different complexions.

Final thoughts: All in all I like the subtle effect which is there but doesn't scream and shout. On my complexion Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée gives a subtle over all glow since it is rather deep as a highlighter. Nude Pearl Gloss Pen provides a nice golden glow on the lips with a transparent base.

The collection is now available on esteelauder.de in Germany.

Have you checked out Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess yet? Are you eyeing any of the products?

  1. As a highlighter freak, this is one of my faves! It's very subtle on me. It gives a radiant tan on you Sara! You're ready for summer! This is a 'tame' sister to the Courreges ;)

  2. Hey Sara, wow it sounds like you're going to have an exciting month!

I actually received the bronzer. I've only swatched it so far, but I don't think it'll work as a bronzer for me. It pulls pretty peachy, so I'm guessing it's more like a highlighter, but a rather subdued one. I'll have to try it on to really know tho!

  6. Hi Katherine,
Yes the packaging is great, If you are fair with cool undertones, this one might be too warm, you are right.

  7. Hi Sunny,
yes an exciting (rest of the) month ahead.
I don't think they released it as a bronzer, it is rather light for that. It pulls plain orange on me, interesting to hear that on your it is peachier. I wished it would be on me as well. That said applied it is pretty. Very subdued on me but deeper complexions might love it as highlighter. It works beautifully over bronzers though.

  11. I rarely wear them either but I just had to say that this one looked really nice. It does not distract too much from the lips, if that makes sense

  13. OK, bronzer and gloss aside, I love the eye makeup you're wearing. The whole look is so retro!

  14. Yes it is retro :-)
Especially because I used Courreges Collection on the eyes, you have a good eye Lily, well spotted.
