Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #170 Iconic Gold and #190 Iconic Bronze, Swatch, Review & FOTD

I hope you are all having a wonderful day. Here the weather signals that spring is coming with temperatures over 17°C. I have the most sunny seat at the office, which is a little annoying most of the time when I am trying to finish something on the computer but the truth is, it certainly lifts my spirit up. Just to avoid the wrinkles, I might need sun glasses. Imagine me sitting at the office with sunnies on!

Today I have two warm sparkly eye shadow singles for you. I told you earlier this year that I was in Berlin to play with Gucci's make-up line and selected three products to purchase. Two of these are Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Monos in #170 Iconic Gold and #190 Iconic Bronze. These are not only gorgeous shades but they also have unique textures.

Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #170 Iconic Gold and #190 Iconic Bronze

Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Monos come in very cute, a little tacky round packaging with Gucci logo on them. They have click closure and on the powder signature Gucci pattern is embossed. At the store when I purchased them, they were also wrapped in a very chic way. I remember my orders from Gucci online store also came in a similar fashion. My first two picks from the line were two eye shadow palettes, #020 Tuscan Storm and #040 Autumn Fire. As much as I liked them for an effortless look, they lacked a bit of the drama I was expecting to find. I am happy to report though, these two monos I have picked, they make it up for it. They are full on bling and drama!

Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #170 Iconic Gold and #190 Iconic Bronze

The first color I picked up was, to my surprise, #170 Iconic Gold, an antique gold/khaki shade with gorgeous twinkling shimmer. Its finish is almost like celestial (glitter) shades but its base color more opaque than the others I have tried. This one has almost no fall out during application and minimal fall out during the day considering how much glitter is packed on your lid. I apply it over Nars Proprime and it lasts all day. Under certain light, it has beautiful shimmer. I apply it with a dense brush. I dampen my brush a little (by spraying MAC Fix+) if I want to pack more on the lid but it works perfectly dry as well.

Swatch: Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #170 Iconic Gold

Here is me wearing Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #170 Iconic Gold on the lids with a highlight on the corner (MAC Nylon) and a cool brown shade on the crease (MAC Brun). Since those type of colors blend too much with my eyes and complexion, usually I don't opt for them but this one has enough shimmer to stand out. It gives twinkling eyes under right light, I really love it.

On the eyes: Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #170 Iconic Gold

I wanted to purchase Iconic Gold and I was good to go but my now very much beauty informed hubby said Iconic Bronze is too beautiful to pass so he is buying it for me! I tell you, he has more knowledge than my mom! Proof? Today I was wearing MAC Lavender Jade Lipstick and I was about to leave the house, he told me "This lipstick is MAC isn't it?". I was shocked! Anyway, he was right. My life wouldn't be complete without Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #190 Iconic Bronze! It is the most gorgeous coppery bronzy base with very pretty golden glitter, so much in love with this one. I just swipe it on for an instant dramatical effect. It glows like nothing else. The finish is very close to Iconic Gold, again no fall out during application and very minimal fall out during the day. If you remember Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Golden Peach, this one is close in color but double the intensity (read, love!).

Swatch: Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #190 Iconic Bronze

Below I am wearing Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #190 Iconic Bronze all over the lid and MAC Brun on the crease. It is a super easy but dramatical eye look. I combine this with Urban Decay 24/7 Eye liner in Demolition which is one of my favorite go-to eye liners because I find blacks too harsh on me.

On the eyes: Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #190 Iconic Bronze

Although Iconic Bronze almost calls for Fall, I like this very unusual combination of rosewood and wood shades. It is a reversed "natural eye, bronze lip" look. I have natural complexion, cheeks and lips and bronze eyes. Below I am wearing Burberry Earthy (reviewed here) and Tom Ford Frantic on the cheeks, MAC Touch The Earth on the lips (reviewed here). I find this look soft and springy.

FOTD: Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Mono #190 Iconic Bronze

Also check out mel-et-fel for a gorgeous eye look and review of Iconic Gold (in German). Stacey also has some nice swatches of a few Gucci Monos here including Iconic Gold. You can find review of Starlight, Sunstone and Oxydus here at The Beauty Look Book and my swatches from Gucci Berlin Store of 12 shades here.

Final thoughts: Both Gucci Magnetic Color Eyeshadow Monos in #170 Iconic Gold and #190 Iconic Bronze are winners for me for a effortless glam and drama. The line offers different finishes though so there is something for everyone. Upon trying the shades, I think Gucci Monos are all consistently good in quality but these two I picked up are very unique to my stash in terms of color pay-off and finish.

Have you tried anything from Gucci line yet? Are you intrigued?

  1. They both look great! I haven't seen Gucci make up in person yet. The packaging is, let's say, interesting ;-)

  2. I am so tempted by both of these - your hubby was right, the bronze is especially gorgeous on you. I'm wondering if it is very similar to Tom Ford's bronze glitter in Cognac Sable? It looks same colour but more pigmented and less glitter? Susan, London

  3. Both shades look stunning. I haven't tried Gucci make-up like ever, I haven't even seen them in real life. I'm very curious though!

  4. Hey so, Iconic Gold really reminds me of RBR Abyssinian Catbird! Definitely intrigued by this one! It doesn't look quite as foiled on the lid tho. Interesting :)

  6. Look at the Iconic Bronze - OMG! I love it! This pigment is so crazy! Reminds me of the shade in Marc Jacobs The Starlet palette but it might not be as bling bling as the Gucci one! :)

  7. Iconic Gold is gorgeous, but I can't bring myself to spend that much on 1 shadow. Iconic Bronze is way too warm and orange for me, but it makes your eyes pop

  14. Hi Jane,
These two colors have very unique textures but there are less glittery ones in the line as well. Yes check out Gucci stores, you never know which one carries the beauty line!

  19. Hi Susan,
I am a little busy at the moment but I promise I will update this post with some comparison photos soon. None of the glitter shades I own have the intensity of these though. These are very pigmented and a cross between glitter and metallic if that makes sense.

  20. I think Gucci delivers to Belgium, so you may want to take the risk and order one item. It is always very exciting to try new brands ;-)

  21. Thanks Liz, it twinkles like a star lol, more so in real life

  22. Hi Sunny,
this one applies like a foil if used wet but it can be easily worn daily, at least I can do that lol.
Gold one would be exactly your kind of shade and I assure you I don't own any other shadow with a similar texture. In real life it is even prettier.

  23. I know, I was also like "oh let me get just one" because they helped me get all the swatches and they were so nice to me. Also at the store they directly could tell "oh you are a blogger, you are welcome" which warmed me up for the brand instantly. You know how the ladies at Dior treated me last time, which was really not pleasant considering that I am actually helping them.
Anyway, I wanted to go for the gold one only but hubby got the orange one. It has enough coolness in there which works for me. Some oranges look terrible on me as well.

  24. Hi Jaa, the shimmer in Starlet is really not my favorite. It is a little linear for my taste so I ended up hating my Starlet Palette (which I should have gotten rid of until now but didn't have the time to do a blog sale). Anyway this one is more bling, intense and the shimmer is like... like as if it is wet foil over the lids if that makes sense.

  26. Thanks for linking my post in Sara! I just bought three more of these-iconic bronze and iconic copper and also antique gold. Iconic Bronze looks so god damn beautiful in the pan but I am not sure if I will be able to pull it off-and swatched next to each other iconic bronze/copper appear very similar apart from the obvious glitter in the bronze shade. But iconic gold is just beautiful!
