Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks #300 Golden Girl, #364 Pinky Groove, #369 Rosy Boop, Review, Swatch & FOTD

It has been some weeks since I posted about my first impressions and counter swatches of Guerlain's reformulated and repackaged Kiss Kiss lipsticks. I have been testing three of the shades since then and today I would like to write about my thoughts.

First the packaging, I have read mixed thoughts about it. I fall under the category of people who love it. The old package with all gold was not really my cup of tea but this black and gold combination, the closing mechanism as well as the weight and the grip, they all feel luxurious to me.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks

Formula wise, I see Kiss Kiss lipstick line somewhere between Rouge Automatique and Rouge G, Rouge G being more opaque and its coverage being high, Rouge Automatique being on the more casual, sheer and "swipe and go" end. That being said all lines have more sheer and more opaque shades so it is hard to generalize.

One thing which I loved about Kiss Kiss though was how hydrating it is and that one is consistent throughout the range. Guerlain's Rouge G formula is one of my all time favorites, mainly because of its longevity and moisturizing effect. Kiss Kiss Lipsticks have almost the same effect in terms of moisturizing, with a little sheerer and in result a little shorter life time on the lips. I see them as a more casual version of Rouge Gs.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks (left to right): #369 Rosy Boop, #300 Golden Girl and #364 Pinky Groove

How about application? As Linda@Silverkis here pointed out, because of the creamy texture of the lipstick, it might be hard to get a crisp lip line without a liner if that is what you want. Since I love sheerer lipsticks, I don't try to build up the color and enjoy the casualty and how nicely it combines with a more defined eye look. I prefer to use them without a liner.

Color range? 25 shades... If you try on one of the lipsticks and find it to be "too dark", "too light", "too warm" or "too cool" there is always another shade which would suit you better.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks #300 Golden Girl is a glossy sheer peachy nude on me. It has enough color so that it doesn't give me concealer lips. I usually don't go for such warm shades, but some of them, especially the sheer ones, tend to work really good. Golden Girl is the second one I love, after Tom Ford's Sweet Spot (see a FOTD with that one here), which is brighter but has a similar tone.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks #300 Golden Girl

Golden Girl is great with a smokey eye or a natural no make-up make-up day. I love combining it with Chanel's Jersey blush (reviewed here), as seen below. On eyes I am wearing Laura Mercier's new sticks (review is coming up soon)

FOTD: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks #300 Golden Girl

Do you also love berry tones? Then you are in luck because Kiss Kiss line has many of them with different undertones. #364 Pinky Groove is a mid-toned berry pink with glossy finish. I didn't first pay intention to that one but I am so happy when I tried it on. Pinky Groove is not too plum nor too pink, a perfect balance between the two and the sheerness is just right to make it casual yet apparent.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks #364 Pinky Groove

I like combining Pinky Groove with Guerlain's new palette Les Aciers (swatched here, review coming up soon) and Chanel's Fall blush Innocence (reviewed here). Below you can see all three in action.

FOTD: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks #364 Pinky Groove

#369 Rosy Boop is the shade I picked up after playing with Kiss Kiss Lippies for over an hour. I thought it was looking most flattering on me. It is an easy natural mid-toned pink, not too cool nor too warm, it has a hint of mauve in there which my complexion usually likes. I can see myself using it up and getting a new one, I am so happy that it is permanent. I was thinking #368 Rose Baby would be a shade for me, but I found it a tad too cool and its golden particles were not that comfortable to wear. I am still thinking I should go back and try Rose Baby once more, but till then Rosy Boop, despite its beyond funny name, will be my favorite Kiss Kiss lipstick.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks #369 Rosy Boop

Here is me wearing Rosy Boop with Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Poesie (reviewed here). I love combining Rosy Boop with a pink natural blush like Chanel Joues Contraste #72 in Rose Initial.

Here is three shades swatched side by side as a comparison and wrap up, for all the shades, check out this post

Final thoughts: As a lover of sheer and casual lipsticks with moisturizing quality, I am in love with Guerlain's reformulation of Kiss Kiss lipsticks. I will certainly be back at the counter and pick up more. At the moment, I am eyeing Peach Fizz, which I tried and loved.

Have you checked out the line? Which ones are you eyeing or have you picked up?

Golden Girl and Pinky Groove are provided for my consideration. I purchased
Rosy Boop myself. I am not paid for this review, all opinions are honest and my own.

    1. Hi Andrea,
what kind of a shade are you searching for? I tried many of these at the counter, I think once I am back, I will get Peach Fizz, which looked really nice. Some of the shades are close So probably it is better to get those which are not too close and enjoy different shades :-) Let me know what you decide for so I can check that one out myself too.

    2. I tend to alway gravitate towards the same shades. Lol! I was thinking on the Brown one or a cool coral. Im always interested in the perfect red, but one that doesnt have any orange, since orange makes me look ridiculous, I think. Im light to medium with neutral, but feel like cool tones look better on my lips.
That Pink Groove looks darling on you! What would you recommend me?

    3. Cool coral sounds great! I think that one is Peach Fizz... From the corals I tried, I liked that one most. I have to tell though I can't wear very bright lippies nicely so if you do you may want to go for the brighter coral, called Sexy Coral. If you like cool tones and would like a wearable plummy pink, you can try Pink Groove too. Light to medium with neutral undertones, this sounds exactly like me :-))

yes Rosy Boop is a great nudish pink for pigmented lips, or such a nice everyday color for most of us.

  5. I found rosy boop to be a very close match to my natural lips - good news for the folks that's asked me "what's the one you've got on? I want that" when I've just worn balm. Will make sure I try on groovy pink as well.
They all look fab on you :)

    1. My lips are also quiet pigmented to start with and Rosy Boop is really close to their natural shade, so a great everyday color, goes good with almost all eye looks, so if I am late, I just swipe this one and go! :-) Rosy Boop rules, lol, just the name, lol lol.

hi sara!! omg! i was in the middle of sending you a comment and my electricity went off!! since i type like a snail and am a bit wordy i wasn't happy when it didn't go through so, i'll try again. please pardon any typos, etc. my eyes are a bit tired now. so based on your swatches, these are my choices....miss kiss, peach fizz, sugar kiss, fall in rose, baby rose, and rosy boop. loving all your pictures and beautiful looks! i'm especially loving jersey blush with golden girl. i'm about a B10" in chanel so i'm not sure if this would suit my coloring. i asked when jersey and the other rose blush would arrive and the beauty consultant said both are not available to the u.s. thankyou for the advice on getting more info. on the dior coppery quad you just reviewed. they also said not until october but, in 2015! i sure hope that was a typo. it seems that there is a "tom ford fetish" going on over here (when is there not)? apparently there's alot of people, including me, looking for the nude dip palette. i pre-ordered and i just received an email stating the 2 lippies in the shade "negligee" are arriving soon to me. i didn't order the lippies because i thought they'd be way too dark for me. this is why i do not like to order makeup. i'm hoping you'll do a FOTD. happy last day of august and i just loved reading this post! i can't wait to go to my local counter to try these. xxoo to you!! p.s. not sure if you've seen the image but vanessa axente posted the chanel holiday look on her facebook fan page. oh my, i better go electricity is flickering on and off...hope you get this......xxx

    1. LOL Wendy, you cracked me up with your name! I also wear B10 during winter time, but I think what matters is the undertones rather than the color. If you need help to get any of those blushes, just send me an e-mail. I am on holiday at the moment but I can help after I am back. 2015? No way! I can swear a friend from US ordered it. I am really expecting these to pop up any time soon, if they do, remember me ;-)
About Nude Dip, I have seen that Selfridges have many of those and they are available online, would you like to order there? I know their customer services are a little lousy but still worth a try. I will do a FOTD with Tom Ford Items in a week, when they arrive to me. I may even do two because i got 2 lippies and two cheek duos as well as the quad. It was terrible, a big hole in my wallet. Now I have to press submit to make sure my comment goes before the electricity ;-) xox

thankyou so much sara!! i really appreciate helping me find the colors! i'm going to wait and see more new arrivals that come to my local stores. i know nars' new lippies are coming, armani has new things, and charlotte tilbury will be online at nordstrom starting tomorrow. but, i will keep you posted! i hope you're having a wonderful holiday!! xoxo. p.s. you just know i can't wait to see how you interpret mr. ford's collection and, i think i need those mercier sticks and, i can find those at my local store!!

    3. I am having some trouble while applying Laura Mercier's new Caviar sticks, they tend to crease on me, nothing creased on me before so I am a little in shock, this is why I am holding off the review. I want to experiment a little more before the final verdict. New Nars lippies are very exciting!

    1. Hi, thanks :-*
I have read, especially at blog comments or forums in Germany that some tell the packaging is not that chic. I don't understand, for me it is one of the most chic packaged lipsticks around :-) And yes, modern too!

  10. This Fall is all about lips for me! I'm falling for each new proposal high end brands come up with!
These are not exception. I love rosy boop on you, that look and the pic are lovely! I am in a dark and berry mood picking my lippies lately, gosh knows why!

  11. Thank you so much for your comprehensive lipstick swatch and posts--it really helped in selecting a color. Guerlain makes amazing lipsticks, much better than Chanel, Tom Ford, etc. I went to my local counter and I loved and got Beige Booster. The names do not match the actual colors, Beige Booster is more of a warm medium pink on me--I got home, took it out of the box and then I dropped the lipstick, closed thank god, on the bathroom tile and the packaging survived without a scratch! So it's beautiful and strong, like us ;-)
