Dior 5 Couleurs Trianon Edition #954 Pink Pompadour from Spring 2014 Trianon Collection

One of the two quints Dior released with Trianon collection, #954 Pink Pompadour is a composition of pinks, silver and purple, much like the blooming flowers, it emits the happy, carefree spring vibes.

Pink Pompadour caught my attention when the first promo pictures were released but I convinced myself that another "pastel" palette which I wouldn't use that often was a waste of money. After swatching it at the counter, I started pondering again. At one point I decided I couldn't skip it. We were talking about pinks and violets after all and the middle shade was too pretty to leave behind.

Coming home, I immediately turned on my camera to shoot some photos before my fingers were all over the palette but while taking the pictures, I have seen that one of the shades were loose. The others didn't also seem to be properly glued. I have head these type of problems before with Dior compacts but this was far worse, so I decided to return it.

At the counter, i checked Dior Make-up Palette in #001 Favorite once more and decided that to get that one instead, which I thought would be more unique to my stash. I didn't end up loving Favorite and I started thinking I made a huge mistake. So off I went to get Pink Pompadour again...

Ooops, one of the shades was loose in compact

Below you can see swatches of first the middle shade then starting from upper left corner in clock wise fashion. Middle shade is truly exceptional. It is a semi sheer pearl effect eye shadow, very much like the nail polish #187 Perle, also from Trianon collection. It layers beautifully with other shades. There are two pinks, one is a very pale frosty pink which can be used at the inner corner to highlight. Then there is a medium pink, which is very wearable since it is not frost nor shiny, it has a beautiful satin finish. Grey shade is metallic and very close to Dior Mono #87 Gris Montaigne. The purple shade has a gorgeous sheen and dark enough to define the eye look.

Below you can see the palette in action. I don't know why I am so pink on this pic, but I swear it was not the blush nor the fall out from the palette ;-) For the mid of the lid I mixed silver and mid-toned pink and used purple at the crease. I highlighter the inner corner with light pink.

I may not like pastels, but purples and pinks are out of this equation, here is the complete look, Corail Bagatelle on the cheeks, Rouge Dior in Courtisane on the lips.

Final thoughts: If you like the color combination, be sure to check Pink Pompadour out. It is a solid palette with pretty springy shades.

What else do you have in your wish list before Spring comes?

    1. LOL, we are all bad influence for each other aren't we ;-)
But I am sure these colors will flatter you, you wear silvers and pinks gorgeously. I am loving the lipstick too but yet again, would look much better on you.

  2. It's a huge shame, the palette packaging was of poor quality :/ it shouldn' t ever happen and especially if you have to pay 40 quid for that.
You look gorgeous, but you are a beautiful person and I don't think you could look bad in anything!!

    1. Hi Irena,
thanks so much for your kind words. I think pinks are purples are rather home run for me. Believe me there are shades I really can't wear, like never see me with a brown lippie lol.

  3. Looks beautiful and spring like on you! Spring is not for me but I need some pastels, I wish the Dior palettes would work better on my dry skin, their frosty texture seem to accentuate every dry patch and uneveness on my lids :( But some of their colour combos are really nice. I like the singles though. I am really loving your pictures/FOTDs, you have nice curls btw ;) / Claire xxx

    1. Aww! Thank you very much.
I actually also have dry skin but if I use Nars Proprime, this makes my lids smoother and then these work much better.
Lol, I am switching between curly and straight hair, can't seem to make up my mind but this one is easier to style so will use it for a few more months.

    1. LOL! The silver and purple are quiet well pigmented and pinks work in inner corners, so voila ;-)
I think this one is really worth a try.

  5. Hey Sara, WOW! I was ready to bet I wouldn't like any of the 5 Couleurs this time around, but I do love this on you! It turned out to be quite intense!

    1. Hi Sunny,
only the middle shade is sheer but I believe it is meant to layer with others to give that pearly effect like the nail polish does. Other shades I find to be quiet smooth and pigmented. Of course the shades are more tender and soft...

    1. Hi Teri,
yes these are the shades which I love wearing. After all those years of wearing warm shades, I found out that a little bit of coolness is much better on me ;-) Oh and that purple... LOL.
