Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss #340, #430, #440, Review, Swatch & FOTD

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. In Germany because of the reunification, this weekend is a long one although for me it made no difference since I am not teaching on Mondays. I am going through the pile of products I have been testing but didn't have the time to share with you. I would like to start with those which I tested thoroughly because for a whole day from morning to evening and even more than once. Victoria Beckham highlighter and eyeshadow palettes are also in test and hoping to write about it in a few days.

Back in July, Estée Lauder released liquid lip products in two lines, Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss and Lacquer. I am usually not a gloss girl but after trying three berry shades of the gloss line, I started wearing them quiet often, to the extend some of those ended up in my purse permanent lipstick collection. This brought back the memory of me flying to holiday this summer, when they had to check each and every lipstick in my purse to find out what was triggering the liquid detector and mind you there were more than 20. I was almost missing the flight!

Back to the glosses, today I have three shades to share with you, #340 Flirtatious Magenda, #430 Plum Jealousy and #440 Berry Provocative along with the FOTDs I wore the first week of the semester. Hope you like it.

Nothing to complain about the packaging. It is pretty much standard gloss packaging and matches with the rest of Estée Lauder line with its black cap and transparent body. The applicator is nice and slim, makes it a breeze to apply the lip color. I noticed that the stick part of the applicator doesn't get dirty and sticky and also the amount of product on the applicator sponge is enough to apply to top and bottom lip.

A few notes about the range, these have a fruity/berry scent to them, they last really long compared to the other glosses I have tried and they are almost not sticky. I also like the fact that even if you touch your lips to each other after the application, they still look shiny and wet.

All three of the shades I got have shimmer but I believe there are different finishes to the other shades. The shimmer in these are very fine and complex. On the lips they serve the purpose of giving a wet look more than looking shimmery, which I really like. Some shades have more coverage than the others. For example #340 Flirtatious Magenda has more coverage than #440 Berry Provocative although the latter has a deeper color. #430 Plum Jealousy has the most transparency among the three shades I have tested.

Here are some FOTDs from this week. The first one is with my favorite of the three shades I have, #340 Flirtatious Magenda. This shade looks redder in the tube and on my arm but cooler applied on my lips probably because they have a mauve base color. I like this shade most because it is very pigmented, even if it is wiped away, a nice stain stays on the lips, although it is also very long lasting. Even after coffee and snacks I didn't have to reapply it. I also find the shade to be a perfect balance between red and pink in a berry way, gorgeous.

On my cheeks I have Estée Lauder Summer Glow Multi-Palette which I am head over hills in love with. Look at the cheek bones and the blush and it lasts all day.

Here is a more subtle FOTD with notoriously hard to find Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadow Ex-29 on the eyes, a silver that I can wear, loving it and on my lips I have Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss  #430 Plum Jealousy. This is the less pigmented of the three, goes great for smoky eyes.

And for the last FOTD I am wearing Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Last Dance on the eyes, Estée Lauder Summer Glow Multi-Palette on the cheeks and Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss  #440 Plum Provocative  on the lips. This is a little sheerer than Magenda but I think it is better that way or it would be too bold for me to wear on a daily basis. Love this shade, vamp and wearable at the same time if that makes sense.

Final thoughts: I really love the application, the pigment and the lasting power. I wished they didn't have a scent though but I can live with it as it is not too strong after the application. Thumbs up.

Do you like wearing gloss? Why/why not?

  1. This is the first post I've found since you're back. Yeah! You're back! It's nice to read your blog again. You look so tan and healthy! I hope you are well. These sound interesting but I doubt I will try them as I never, ever wear gloss. I've be trying to find the EL Pure Color Envy Hi-Lustre lipsticks, but none of the counters near me seem to have them yet.

  3. I'm not a gloss girl, but these are stunning !
Did you try the hi-lustre lipsticks ? I bought 2 of them, the colors are beautiful but I don't see a real différence compared to the classic Envy lipsticks ....

    Bonne journée !

  4. These look very pretty on you-- and I am not into glosses either. I do see the advantages of a vamp shade in a more transparent formula though. Like that one very much.
