Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme Eau de Parfum, Review & Photos

Fri-yay everyone! This is the first weekend before X-mas so basically we have to work full day (and night) to get the missing presents. This year, it is somehow worse than last years, we haven't even started. Now when I think about the stress ahead, I am not too excited about weekend anymore. *chuckles*

I have been wearing the newest addition to Tom Ford signature perfume line, Noir Femme Eau de Parfum for months now but I held on to the review thinking this is one of the most perfect perfumes you can get for the time of the year. The moment the drops leave the spray it fills the air with a seductive christmas cookie. How can I resist *om nom nom*. Here are my thoughts...

Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme Eau de Parfum

Now let's start being honest, me, *shows herself* no fan of vanilla. I don't even drink vanilla tea because it smells that way. The sweet floral vanilla bomb mass market fragrance is something I run away from as fast as I can. The last vanilla scent I reviewed was YSL's Black Opium, which I almost haven't reached after the honey moon phase. It has a little too much white floral which might be a good thing since I started getting a little off by something synthetic in there, probably vanilla and jasmine blocks it in a way, good girl.

After my first encounter with Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme, I knew this one was not related to Noir other than its name. I got a little disappointed given the fact that how much I adore the men version. Tom Ford Noir for Men, oh so sensual. Tom knows how a man should smell like? And what about woman? By just judging from Tom Ford Noir pour Femme, I think Tom Ford's woman bakes, ehm, Christmas Cookies, and... Noir? That must be the chocolate! A woman who bakes and covered in dark chocolate, that must be his woman *grins*

Before I elaborate on that here are the notes of Tom Ford Noir pour Femme:

Top Notes
Citrus, Spice, Mandarin, Bitter orange, Ginger
Heart Notes
Rose absolute, Jasmine, Orange flower, Indian Kulfi accord
Base notes
Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood

Before we go into the (dark) chocolate fantasy of Tom, let's take a look at the flacon. It is black and gold in a sleek modern bottle and Tom Ford's signature stripes. It looks and feels luxurious.

After the first spray, I want to sing "Take me to the cookie shop, let me show you what I got" by the band "50 cent is never enough, need 50 million at least". Tom is definitely good for a loud bang start and gets it so right again. Just a spray and all the heads are turned. No chocolate listed in the notes but the gourmand touch is definitely getting there. All the spicy top notes make you an interesting cookie, something everyone would like to taste. Each time I wear Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme, hubby appears out of no where and compliments. One time he was sleeping and woke up to mumble "this smells good".

Then to me I was almost convinced it was too much of a Black Opium for me so decided to spray both at once, sniffing myself like a crazy dog. There came the surprise. Noir Pour Femme is definitely keeps itself together without notes being too distinctive (like jasmine in the case of Black Opium) and the fine blend doesn't come any close to the synthetic accord of Black Opium. Noir Pour Femme is what I would have like Black Opium to be.

Luckily Noir Pour Femme appears different than the rest of vanilla gang. The sweetness is kept within limits and balanced with a good dose of floral and spice notes throughout its projection. Although what I like most is the opening and the entrance of florals, Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme delivers with its base notes as well. They never getting too syrupy nor sweet but stay creamy and pleasant.  I can definitely see myself packing this one for our Christmas family trip, where the cookies and chocolates are of abundance so why not go for this warm seducing gourmand.

Final thoughts: (not too) sweet creamy vanilla and a touch of seductive chocolate and even ginger, get ready for the most delicious christmas cookie on the market. The warmth and the cosiness of Tom Ford Pour Noir will captivate you as the weather gets colder. If you are a vanilla fan who doesn't like the mass market sweet punch, make sure to check it out.

  1. My husband was the exact same with this scent! He never notices/cares what perfume I wear, but when I got a sample of this one, he kept saying how wonderful I smelled every single time I tried it. So of course I had to grab a full-sized one!
