Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur Review, Swatch & Comparison

I hope you are all having a beautiful weekend. My weekend started certainly much better than last one. In the morning it was sunny so I could take some swatches. We just had delicious Sushi, I will write the post and exercise a little. Then we will watch a movie, probably from iTunes. Any recommendations?

Chanel recently added a new fragrance to their Chance line, Eau Vive. To celebrate this, they released a new green shade, which is matching to Chance Eau Fraiche and repromoted three other shades, #535 May, #515 Peche Nacrée and #167 Ballerina. Each shade is matchy matchy with one of the Chance fragrances. When I saw the new green, Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fricheur, I thought it was Jade revived! Many thanks to a dear friend from Taiwan, I got my paws into one. Today it is all about it.

Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur Review

Let's start with my paws and Fraicheur. It is a lovely mint green with a hidden green shimmer, similar to Jade. The formula is great. The consistency is just right, not too thin nor thick. With one coat it is sheer but with two coats, it is perfectly opaque. It doesn't have streakiness or any of the nasty things one wouldn't wish in a nail polish. To me for such a delicate color, they got it just right. The opacity is just right, it has the sheerness to let the nice shimmer show through but at the same time it doesn't show the nail line. Big thumbs up!

Swatch: Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur

Here is another shot with the flowers in our balcony which I am loving at the moment. See how delicate and classy it looks. Green nail polishes can easily look cheap but Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur certainly doesn't.

Swatch: Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur

Now the swatch comparison everyone was wondering about. Notoriously hard to find #407 Jade vs. #767 Fraicheur. Jade is a little deeper, has more of the hidden shimmer and is a little more blue based than Fraicheur. On the nails they are very close though. As a test I swatched the pointer finger and the ring finger with Jade and showed it to hubby. He said not all the nails are painted with the same color but there is only a marginal difference.

I think Chanel has done it right. They didn't turn down the collectors but cheered everyone by offering a really close shade to Jade.

Comparison Swatch: Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur vs. #407 Jade

Here is one more shot so that you can see the small differences between the shades. I like Jade a bit more but I will be using Fraicheur instead not to finish my now 2/3 full bottle ;-)

Comparison Swatch: Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur vs. #407 Jade

Here is a few more comparisons for your reference. Chanel #527 Nouvelle Vague is bluer, so is also Guerlain #700 Blue Ocean. Illamasqua Nomad is brighter and more green. Rescue Beauty Lounge Liberty is more grey. Dior #504 Waterlily is a little deeper and more yellow based. Chanel  #407 Jade is a tad deeper and more blue based.

Final thoughts: All thumbs up for the formula and the shade. Beautiful! I also love the fact that it is not an exact dupe of Jade, to which I had to pay a fortune and I am sure many collectors did that too. At the same time I am glad that it is close enough to cheer everyone else.

My only critic is about the availability. In Germany Chanel Le Vernis #767 Fraicheur is offered exclusively in Frankfurt Douglas (Zeil 98). Coincidentally I will be there on Monday for an event and will pick up a backup for myself, but... I still can't understand why it is available online in the States and in Germany we have to go to Frankfurt to get one. I am only shaking my head in disapproval. I think German fans deserve better.

Could you catch Jade? Are you getting Fraicheur? What are your thoughts about exclusivity which applies only to some countries?

  1. Fraicheur is beautiful! Thanks for the comparisons. Not many green nail polishes actually look flattering on hands but Fraicheur is definitely pretty on you. There's something about it!
(BTW, I'm loving the new font and the line spacing on your blog :))

  2. Hi Lena,
yes Fraicheur is lighter, more delicate, nothing like wall paint ;-) They got the opacity/sheerness balance right with this one.
And... thank you so very much for your comment on the blog line spacing and font. It took me some hours to fix and I was not sure if I did it right. I am so glad it made a difference for you.

  3. OK so out of the two I think I prefer Jade, but since it's unavailable, I might see if I can lay my hands on Fraicheur! What a beauty it is <3

  4. It looks nice, but an exclusive nail polish sounds funny to me. Maybe I am not entirely brainwashed by the makeup industry yet, only ready to chase for eyeshadows :) I have Guerlain's Blue Ocean and can live with that.

  6. I don't like weird exclusivity. And while I think I still prefer Jade (don't own it though!) this one is quite pretty as well. But I'm trying NOT to buy more polish! lol
Though if I were going to grab this.... you could bet I'd be doing some tiny mixing experiments to see if adding a bit of blue would better dupe its elusive and much more expensive green cousin. :D

  7. I really like shades like this for summertime! It reminds me of O.P.I.'s Gargantuan Green Grape, which is one of my faves! xo

  8. I just swatched Fraicheur in store!! Unfortunately the slightly yellow undertones brought out more of my yellow undertones than I like...I needed it to be a bluer green. Not that I need a new vernis LOLOL.

  9. I have some on order - only just got Jade this year, as you know, so nice to have an 'almost dupe'. Have to say, looking at your wheel Nouvelle Vague is still my favourite of the ocean colours. Susan, London

  11. Oh I think Fraicheur is prettier!! But of course tastes change with the seasons... lol! I'm still waiting for mine. It actually launched here in Singapore, but when I enquired the week before, the BA didn't even know what I was talking about. So I ended up buying it from TW.....lolol! More haste, less speed it seems.

  12. That is utterly beautiful - I am yet to own a Chanel polish but this is the kind of colour I would probably go for!

  13. Oh! I knew it looked familiar - my Dior Waterlily died. I love greens like this but I've been getting rid of nail polishes. I just don't wear them much. I'm pretty selective of colors I wear, so I'm only keeping a few :-)

  15. I bought my bottle on chanel.com for $27. It's selling on eBay for $55, which is crazy.

  16. It is certainly a color you would enjoy. The difference between the two is so subtle, you can only understand if you put them next to each other :-)

  17. Hi Jane,
can't agree more. It is just nail polish. I am so proud to have readers who can think lol. Guerlain's Blue Ocean is stunning, enjoy.

  18. Hahaha Alison, yes you are right they are all very similar,
I think I have Fire Queen too, didn't put it in the comparison for a strange reason.

  19. Hi Rach,
that is a good idea, why not mixing one of the upcoming "Blue Collection" nail polishes with this one and see how it looks ;-)

  20. Now that OPI is so beautiful, have to order it myself, lol, I am so hopeless!

  21. Hi Bella,
you are so lucky to be able to go to the store, swatch and see if you like it or not. Here it is ridiculously hard to get so people are stressed to get a bottle, even pay two times the price even before trying. *sigh*

  22. Nouvelle Vague is my all time favorite nail polish. There is something about it no other turquoise has. I hope you get yours soon. I just got a back up of this one on Monday for a strange reason.

  25. I'm wondering...mixing in a palette a tiny amount ( just for experiment) of Chanel Fraicheur and Dior Waterlily...a Chanel Jade is born? or not?

  26. I believe you can definitely try it out and even succeed. There is really little difference between the two.

  27. You know actually I got Jade from evilbay, after years of each someone was selling a used but pristine bottle. I jumped on it, wrote to her and negotiated on the price. This is how I got hold of mine. And you know the story for Fraicheur ;-) Thanks so much once more!

  28. I have seen it at Galeries Lafayette in Strasbourg and they had many of them, it was not a problem to get it in France I believe. It was crazy exclusive in Germany.
