YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette from Fall 2014 Leather Fetish Collection, Review, Swatch & FOTD

After a long winter for some of us (and no winter for the others), all we want to think about might be sun shine warming our face while sipping a glass of Mojito. I thought staying up to date still counts while doing that, so today I bring you a very pretty item from Fall 2014, YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette.

YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette from Fall 2014 Leather Fetish Collection

Excuse me for the abundance of photos but I couldn't help myself but took them as I am excited about how the colors and the design look so pretty together. Deep Blue, beige and warm naturals are the theme of this gorgeous palette. They remind me of autumn leaves on a night walk by the park.

The design of the palette is the same as the new eyeshadow palette releases from YSL (swatches here) and their summer palette (reviewed here).

YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette from Fall 2014 Leather Fetish Collection

When I have heard the name Fétiche, I wondered what kind of fetish are they talking about? Well, you can see that after touching the palette since it is covered with leather. I am guessing (and smelling) that it is artificial but the optic looks very pretty.

On a side note, I am thinking about these while writing the post:
I am trying not to think about leather clothes since it is very hot here in Stuttgart since days.
I can't help but smile thinking what kind of "search" words will led people to this post *big grin*

Packaging: YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette from Fall 2014 Leather Fetish Collection

On the package the top most shades are indicated as base (left) and highlight (right) as the other  three are denoted to be "color" shades. All in all the palette pulls quiet warm while blue cools things down a bit. This looks like a perfect color combination for brown eyed ladies with warm complexion as well as blue eyed gals. I tried my best to pull it off too though (scroll down to see the results).

All shades are buttery/silky to touch with great color pay-off without an exception.

Top left: A mid-toned warm bronze with golden shimmer
Top right: Light beige with satin to shimmery finish
Middle: Very deep cool brown with subtle golden shimmer
Bottom left: Deep petrol blue with satin finish. By the way I have just learned that petrol is not blue and the name comes from Blue Petrel which is named after teal duck.
Bottom right: Very deep cool black with satin to matte finish and very sparse silver shimmer.

Below I applied the highlighter shade on the inner lid, base shade on the lid until the outer corner. I added blue to the outer corner and defined the crease with the deep brown, which I later on deepened with black. On this look I used Urban Decay 24/5 Eyeliner in Junkie along the upper lash line and lower waterline. The crease can be softened with the base shade but you know me, I liked it a little dramatic.

In-action: YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette from Fall 2014 Leather Fetish Collection

Here is the whole look, combined with my favorite nude lippie at the moment, MAC Woodrose (reviewed here). With a strong eye, I kept the rest of the makeup very minimal. Teal blue shirt which I am wearing is from Jake*s.

FOTD: YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette from Fall 2014 Leather Fetish Collection

Final thoughts: Although it is too early to think about leathers and fallen leaves, I can't recommend YSL Fétiche Eyeshadow Palette enough. I love the texture and the color combination. This one is a good candidate for being a stand out of the next season.

YSL Leather Fetish Collection will be released in August, you can see the promo pictures here.  I found mine at evil bay by luck.

Are you eyeing anything from YSL Fall Collection?

    1. Hi Teri,
aren't the new palettes released there already? Here they are out for some weeks now. I like the limited edition ones better than the permanent ones though (story of my life) since they are more interesting ;-)

  2. I feel like the fall collections came out a bit too early this year! Though, that palette is stunning and I definitely plan on picking one up this August ;)

    1. Hi Miss Louise,
I would say this one is a must but a bit too autumny for the time being so August will be perfect while wearing this one and sailing into Fall.

  4. I didn't really think much of this palette when I saw the promo pics, but the swatches are gorgeous! I like the black & gold compact much better than the regular gold ones too.

    1. Hi Nicci,
I can't agree more, also the leather case doesn't collect dust nor it is prone to fingerprints like the regular one, so I was thinking why doesn't YSL extend this leather fetish thing ;-)

  5. hi sara! thankyou for this wonderful review!! i'm sure the ysl fall collection will be arriving soon as chanel's is almost sold out at my favorite store. i really love that pallette. you made it look gorgeous. but, i just bought most of the chanel summer collection today. i know, i'm very late in the fashion world. anyway, i was wondering if you are going to post a look using the 2 illusion d' ombre colors from chanel's summer collection. i just love to see your interpretation and if you used any other products to acheive an eye look with these colors. if not, could you please tell me what you'd recommend. i'm thinking each color on the lid and then swept in the crease. but, i'm not sure about the liner? thankyou very much!!! xoxo. p.s. i just love your blog! it IS the best!!!!

    1. Hi Wendy,
thanks so much for your kind words. I don't think you are late, Chanel's summer collection is just released here only a week ago and I also acquired some items lately. I reviewed the blush and I am about to review the IdOs and eye liner. I am a little struggling with that review though as I feel like these don't combine as well as they used to. I will try to do my best to post before my holiday or maybe right after (this is then next week) to show how I liked wearing these. I hope it will be inspirational for you and some others. Which two IdOs did you pick up? (since there are three in total).

    2. hi sara!! thankyou very much for responding back to me! i bought mirage and new moon. i used both for the first time this morning. i was surprised but, i didn't like mirage at all! i put new moon over it. i just blended it out and a bit in the crease. i used colors from chanel's spices quad for liner and highlight. i am somewhat disappointed with my results. i wanted to look like the model's makeup for the summer campaign. :) your review of cheeky was wonderful. unfortunately, i'm very pale. the sales associate suggested i use it as a crease color for my eyes. i also wanted my lips to look like the ad campaign. i bought sunny and happy. the sales associate charged me for the color "sonate" glossimer (pardon my spelling, i'm a bit tired from work) from spring collection. i was going to return it but, i mixed all 3 together to try to acheive the model's look. the wear time on these is dismal for me. i have very mixed feelings about this collection. and, i think it would look better with a tan. did you see lisa eldridge's video for the collection? i can't pinpoint it but, i did not like the look on her. kinda looked like me. it looked almost too understated? i don't know?? i hope you have a great holiday!!! xxxxoooo to you!!

    1. Thanks so much :-*
I didn't feel that it was made for me. I think it will look a lot better on brown eyes and warmer complexions as well as blue eyes (because of yellowish tones). On me, well, I tried to make it work, sort of :-) I am glad to hear that you liked it.

    1. Hi Sunny,
new ones are more pigmented and less shimmery than the older ones. But I have to say I was a real fan of Pure Chromatics formula, so it is a little sad for me that they are now discontinued. There is some differences between the pigmentation of the permanent range but the limited items seem to be even better. I was smitten by the summer palette and Fall Palette is to die for :-)
