Chanel Illusion D'Ombre #94 in Rose des Vents for Jardin de Camélias Collection, Swatch & Comparison

The second piece I purchased from Chanel's Jardin de Camélias Collection is a limited creme eye shadow, Illusion d'Ombre #94 in Rose des Vents. I won't wait until the end of the post to tell you what I feel about this one. It is love. It is my favorite piece of the collection. I love the beautiful sheen and the unique color.

As gorgeous as it is, it is hard to capture the real beauty in pictures. At some angles, it looks more red, more fuchsia or more pink. Once applied, it looks like a jelly sugary desert (maybe like this one here?). It is certainly a very playful shade, a unique addition to my collection.

I pulled out some of the pinkish Illusion d'Ombres to compare with Rose des Vents but I knew already that nothing would be like it.

Here is the proof. #93 Impulsion or #82 Emerville both look like they are tones of white ones compared to the more pigmented Rose des Vents. #88 Abstraction is also a light peachy pink. #86 Ebloui has more brown in it. After doing that I also compared Rose des Vents to Armani Eyes To Kill #7 (not shown) , which is a rose gold shade. Rose des Vents has more blue in it and it is more interesting than any of those, the only question was left to be answered, would it be wearable?

The answer is yes! I wore it today to work. As vivid and interesting as it is, also very wearable. Below you can see the look I created using Jarden Zen eye shadow quad from the same collection (review follows shortly) to define the crease and outer corner. All over the lid you can see Rose des Vents. In person, this one looks much better since some gorgeous light reflections are added.

In-action: Chanel Illusion D'Ombre #94 in Rose des Vents together with Jarden Zen Eye Shadow Quad

I am loving the last additions to Chanel's Illusion d'Ombre range. I feel like those started having some properties which are not easy to be realized by powder products. I loved Impulsion more as a base more than on its own but Rose des Vents can be used either way.

Final thoughts: Both thumbs up. For me Rose des Vents is my choice from Jardin de Camélias Collection, so be sure to check it out in case you have access to this rather restricted collection.

What tones of pink do you find wearable for you?

  1. I also bought this one and ADORE IT! <3 As you say, it's a marvellous complex layering thing, that pulls all kinds of crazy beautiful stuff out of other shades :D Thank you so much for the comparisons to other Id'O as well! I will now have a reference post to link ;)

    1. Hi Kate, I have just seen your post and wow! This looks so beautiful on your complexion, love it!
I need to also try pairing it with a liner and just a soft gradient on the crease. It is so beautiful by itsel, doesn't need all that thing around it but I also liked it combined. Gorgeousness!

    1. This could really well be worn alone but I tend to shy away from pinks. Having a good amount of blue though this one doesn't look like a rabbit eye, it looks very nice once worn so make sure to check it out :-)

  3. You totally make it work! When I first saw it, I wasn't sure how it would look on the eye since the color leans a little red in the pot but you totally proved it can be worn subtly for a soft eye look! Thanks for the swatch comparison, too! It will come in handy. :D

    1. Thanks Jaa but believe me it is the shadow which can be worn nicely, not me making it work :-)
It is official, this one is now my favorite pink on my lids. Are you going to check it out too? Remembering how nicely you could pull off the spring quad, this will look even better on you I bet.

  4. Oooh this is a lovely pink! It'll be interesting to swatch on my skin for it might be a bit too cool for me but it looks beautiful on you with the look you created so I guess we'll see. :)

    1. I think because of the interesting blink feature of this one (shimmer?) it can be worn also on warmer complexions. I am pretty much natural (not too warm nor cool)and it doesn't look cool on me. You have to check out in person though, great that this collection will be in Canada!

    1. Isn't that amazing how our taste change over time? I was wearing very colorful eye shadows and now I am more into naturals but it might change anytime again, especially during summer lol.
I think the new releases of IdOs are much better in terms of consistency and pigment. I love how they bling too lol.
