It was a silent second blogiversary yesterday since I was really going through a hard week. I will have a post dedicated to that one and hoping to host a give-away too. I am travelling from Sunday on and there are lots of goodies I purchased today. I will try to post as much of them as possible before I fly. But there are a few other things I have to do so let's see how efficient I can work in the next two days.
Before I start with my hauls, here is something I chose from Bobbi Brown for Spring, Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color #7 Pale Peach and #10 Tawny Pink. Two gorgeous nudy creamy matte lipstick to go with for warm and cooler toned make-up.
Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color #7 Pale Peach & #10 Tawny Pink |
Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color #10 Tawny Pink is a muted pink plum with natural undertones and matte finish. I am trying this formula for the first time and I am so surprised how pigmented it is. It is definitely more pigmented than Tom Ford Matte Lip Colors and most of my MAC matte lip colors as well. With one swipe you can get it opaque. The finish is called creamy matte, since it has a certain slip to it and feels nice and comfortable. The packaging is sleek, it has a safe click closure and sits tight on the bullet.
Swatch: Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color #10 Tawny Pink |
Once you see the swatch, you think it will be a statement lip but actually on me Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color #10 Tawny Pink is almost like a nude color which I can see myself wearing with more colorful eye makeup too. It is very long lasting too, it stays on me over 5 hours. I divide the lipsticks into two categories, the ones which can survive my morning coffeec& snack and ones which can't. This one definitely belongs to the former. Below I combined it with Tom Ford Frantic Pink on the cheeks.
FOTD: Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color #10 Tawny Pink |
Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color #7 Pale Peach is a muted orange peach with warm undertones and matte finish. This one is also very pigmented and goes on opaque with just one swipe. After I swatched it, I was not sure if I could pull it off because I am not big on oranges on myself.

But it seems I can! At least I can pull this one off. I have to admit I even like it more than Tawny Pink which looks a lot like my other go to colors. Pale Peach is not too light, not too pastel and it has a lovely mutes quality which brightens up the complexion. It is absolutely love for me. I combine it with Tom Ford Flush Cheek Color below.

I pulled out some similar colors for your reference. MAC Oxblood from Toledo Collection (reviewed here) is just slightly cooler, it is also a tad lighter. Tom Ford First Time (reviewed here) has more pink thus cooler than Bobbi Brown Pale Peach.
Bobbi Brown Tawny Pink is warmer and deeper than both Tom Ford Pussycat (reviewed here) and MAC Nouvelle Vogue (reviewed here). Nouvelle Vogue is also less muted.

Check out Lily's review of Razzberry here and Crushed Plum here at ChloeAsh. It seems she like them as much as I do. And I definitely also need Chrushed Plum, if not for the shade, just for the name.
Final thoughts: When we are chasing for limited editions, we forget about treasures of permanent collections. These two colors are definitely all thumbs up from me. Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte formula is very pigmented, long lasting and very comfortable on the lips. I am especially loving Pale Peach for Spring looks.
Have you checked Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipsticks out?

I am not paid for this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
Wait, they call that Pale Peach? LOL That can't be right! I do like how it looks tho! Tawny Pink on the other hand isn't a shade I can pull off ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, happy second blogoversary!
Happy Blogiversary! The Pale Peach looks lovely but much lighter on you than it does swatched. I've gotten several of these warmer oranges this year. Mandarine from Sisley. Venere from Dolce and Wild Ginger from TF. They say summer to me.
ReplyDeletePale Peach looks great on you! I too have been surprised how much I like certain orange lippies on myself. Chanel Sari Doré from the reformulated Rouge Cocos is a recent example. I tried it on a whim and I'm so glad I did! I might have to check out Pale Peach as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the shout out, Sara. Both look great, but I think Pale Peach looks especially brightening and stunning on you! Happy 2nd blog anniversary by the way :-) Oh, other than Crushed Plum and Razzberry, go check out Berry Noir! I think you'll like that too.
ReplyDeletePale Peach looks lovely on you , but Tawny Pink is my kind of color!
ReplyDeleteHi Katherine,
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that too, Tawny is my kind of color but Peachy Pink looks unexpectedly nice :-) Maybe it would look good on you too.
Berry Noir! Ahh just the name can make me get it!
ReplyDeleteCrushed Plum is on top of my list now. I might approach these at the end of summer for a dark vampy fall. Thanks for your recommendations.
Hi Jess,
ReplyDeleteChanel has Sari Dore before in their Coco line and I own and love that one. I haven't tried the new formulation but the shade should be almost the same. I know what you mean, some oranges have a touch of peach, pink which make them flattering. I also like Rouge Coco in Coco although that one is a tad too red for my taste.
Thanks Alison!
ReplyDeleteBoth of them look lighter on the lips than swatches. I was also confused but I know that the color of my lips make everything neonish, so maybe this is why these appear a bit lighter. Mandarine from Sisley, hmmm, intriguing!
Hahaha the names are sometimes so misleading. I was very careful just because the name is that way and pale kind of lips look terrible on me, like concealer but this one is right up my alley. I am sure it would look good on you as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Sisley has no red in it at all. It's a real mandarine color, almost what a blonde or a warm toned gal would wear -- can be used either pigmented or light. With my neutral skin with the right blush I can pull it off. With summer color, I bet you could wear it.
ReplyDeleteOoh, both of these shades are so pretty for Spring! Tempted by the peach especially, as my selection of peaches isn't super big at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing a revival of Bobbi Brown here... and i fear for the sanity of my wallet! Yay to pre-holiday hauling!! Nothign quite like shopping to get you in the mood for holiday!! Hehehehe... can't wait to see the rest of your haul!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenni.
ReplyDeleteThe same here, I don't have many peaches in my collection because not all orange shades look good on me. But this one is really pretty!
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeletebefore the holiday I was very naughty. I tried to tell myself, stop stop you need that money for japanese cosmetics and brushes but I went weak. Now I also splurged a lot here, I am in big trouble lol.
Hi Alison,
ReplyDeletethat is great to hear. I followed your recommendation and checked the shade out at the airport. It swatched beautifully but we were running late so couldn't try it on. I will do that soon :-)
